I think he was referring to the tendancy of 'christians' to commit violence when the one they claim to follow did not; nor did he teach anyone to commit it.

The bible does teach people to commit violence (see list of scriptures I posted earlier), and that is the holy book of Chrisitianity, so it's not hypocritical for Christians to commit violence. [Romans 1:24-32; Acts 5:1-11; and before you read the list of Old Testament scriptures I posted before, refer to Jesus' views on the Old Testament]
All I'm saying here is, I generally like Bill Maher but he is taking liberties with the facts in that video, making an opportunity to call Christians hypocrites where none exists.
Being an atheist would not be an impairment to being elected to office this side of the pond. If anything, people are a little shy about admitting to being religious. We're getting there ;)

But I follow Christ and His e x ample. Not the bible or its e x ample.
Christ - the guy who taught to turn the other cheek (and did it). They guy who taught to do good to your enemies (and did it) The guy who taught to forgive and show mercy to all and to anyone who asks for it (and did it... even going father as to offer forgivness and mercy to those who did not ask for it or want it).
