Why is it that serious /important topics seem to be overlooked and fluffy inconsequential topics get all the attention

DaCheech "gladiator, you have high 1824 posts since '01, I have 5712 posts since 04' some have 5712 posts in 6 months."

    ......

This is true but I did post under my real name 'Trevor' for a time. Even so my post count is low which I see as an indication of a balanced life.

Addiction to online forums is no unknown. Keeping a lid on my post count is a sign of sanity.

I will hang around indefinitely, posting meaningless comments and achieving nothing except amusing myself.

    Look after yourself.

Terry - Look at your Subject on THIS topic.

What if you had titled it: ARE SERIOUS/IMPORTANT TOPICS BEING OVERLOOKED?

When the topic is telling, teaching, accusing, explaining, demonstrating, ranting, promoting etc. little room is left for response.

When the topic is asking, inviting, sharing, quizzical, mysterious, funny, personal, etc. the door is open a bit wider for the feelings and thoughts from the gang.

Terrry for your very insightful comments about how to increase participation in a thread. I have also noticed that more people like to comment on WTBTS apologists' threads and about controversial (hot-button) comments that are not general accepted by many on JWN.

Peace be with you and everyone, who you love,

    Robert

Geeeeeez guys /gals I`m impressed, seriously. The responses you have made to this thread are very encouraging, to me anyway.I also agree that the subject wording is very important to capture peoples attention, and of course not every subject is on the top priority list of every individual. It can also be the mood you are in while on this site, sometimes we are in a depressed mood ,sometimes we are in a jovial mood, this can have an influence on wether we respond or not,as of course some subjects we just dont want to touch. And of course their are also some people we dont want to get to close to,theirs no way we will respond to their posts. Why? because we are all human, none of us are perfect but we can share information, ideas and different points of veiw without attacking someone personally.

Thankyou for all your comments, I have learnt a lot

Interesting comment --- and if you were housebound, disabled, and no family,,, would your post count indicate .... WHAT?

just a thought .... from someone who is housebound, disabled and has no family....

How little we know about those whom with we communicate with online ...

Maybe they should have said "MY balanced life". From what I can gleam most of us here are fairly busy with our lives. I don't believe my high post count over there is an indicator of whether my life is balanced or not. Besides what does "balanced" really mean?

Josie - wife of a disabled hubby and mom to four kids including one autistic child.

Oh Talesin my heart goes out to you. My comment was subjective and not meant to judge others.

There is so much we don’t know and so much that we keep from others on a public forum.

Sorry if I touched a nerve.

    Take care…Trevor

    I miss Hillary Step.

I do too - even if he did call me a "redneck cowboy" for disagreeing with him that Iran's nuclear program was perfectly peaceful.

As far as the fluffy and inconsequential thread topics - I actually learned the useful term "mingy & fresh" today from one of them.

I think that will stay with me for a long time.

The only thing that saddens me is that sometimes the "important" threads seem to fizzle out before some kind of resolution is reached.

Admittedly the issues aired have usually been coverd and dealt with before on this site, but when they come up again, I wish to see the idiots made to recognize the superior wisdom they have pitted their sad intellect against.

A ripping good thread can suddenly be 3 or 4 pages back, because of fluff. I suppose though, that as a pretty free and democrartic place that is what will happen.

Whatever my gripes may be, I do not believe there is a better site on the Net for recovering xJW's.

gladiator that why I'm eventually not gonna post anymore, seems like everyone is so touchy and then goes for my jugular.
