Hi elderelite, thanks so much for your input, which is noted. I've double-checked with the latest elders manual. You are correct that newly appointed elders who have never served before are to have their appointments cancelled if they answer "yes" to the following question: "Have you ever been involved at any time in the past with child sexual molestation." However, this question is NOT to be asked if the brother has served previously as an elder. The criteria for appointing elders asks the body to consider previous wrongdoing, but as regards brothers who have served before they are to consider questions such as "What progress has he made since his deletion?" Nowhere in the publication is there clear unequivocal guidance that a brother who has served previously as an elder but has been found guilty in the past of child abuse may never serve again.

If I have missed something, or if I am otherwise misinformed on this issue, please let me know and I will gladly have the question removed from the survey. I feel it's important to get it right on such sensitive issues.

Thanks again, and thanks to the more than 50 of you who have already voted!

    Hey Cedars!

    Just finished the survey.

My gut feel on this project is just screaming GREAT. Awesome job, sincerely to all involved including Juan Viejo2. Great website. Great survey. Stunning for take 2!!! I have to watch this space.

For too long the Watchtower has been able to simply ignore the SILENT MAJORITY. No more! A very hard to ignore PUBLIC voice that I expect the MEDIA will also run with given the success of the "war of words" article and (media liability shielding) strategy - at last!

Finally the Watchtower between a rock and a hard place! The GB can't shut the survey down, and they can't participate or influence, so now they are voiceless - priceless!!!!!!

All strength, power, wisdom, humility and modesty to you and yours as you stare down Goliath and see him shaking with fear.

Like elderelite, I would like an option for those who believe the Watchtower is irreformable and illegitimate (an enemy of God and man).

I just know this is going places we can't yet dare to believe and imagine.

May this go from strength to strength, whilst naked and insane Goliath gets ever weaker and fearful...

Hi Fernando, I really appreciate your enthusiastic support, and it's great that you share my vision. I can really see this making an impact if enough people get involved and let their voices be heard. Like you say, there's nothing the Society can do to stop us.

I'll take on board what you and elderite have said about the "reform" question. I suspect it's not too late to add a more unequivocal non-reformist statement than the one currently offered.

    Thanks again!

Nice survey. If most JW's answered honestly, they'd probably be considered apostates!

I know it sounds facetious, but a short survey titled "How Apostate are you?" with the appropriate percentage based on the answers on a seperate site would be quite amusing and eye opening to any active JW's who took the survey. The addition of GB pictures from Fred Franz to Leo Greenlees for the corresponding percentages would be absolutely golden.

I'm not trying to take away from the seriousness of what you are doing, but the above would be ridiculously funny!

The question about current beliefs was worded a bit strange:

I am a Christian, and I believe that to be saved one must be "born again"

I don't understand why you chose to narrow it down instead of simply, "I am a Christian"

    Good survey. Completed.

Hi donuthole - sorry about that. I perhaps should have just put "Christian" down as an option, only I've noticed that most non-JW Christians believe in going to heaven and not an earthly resurrection. If you are not of that persuasion, then I apologise for not having catered for you. Next year's survey will be worded differently to reflect this. I certainly appreciate the feedback, and thanks for finishing the survey!

irondork - thanks for flagging up the typo, it's appreciated!

    Razziel - thanks, that's a great idea for a future mini-survey!

I've just finished listening to last night's Cult Free Radio broadcast, and I want to say a big thank you to Mad Sweeney for his kind endorsement of our project.

Cedars, I've been getting some good feedback from your Cult Free Radio interview. I hope many of the listeners will go take the survey. I know I did.
