The question (for faders) about which hope a person has (or something) should have another option, like for people who believe they're going to heaven but who don't believe they're of the 144,000. I voted "I'd rather not say" because I didn't agree with the other options anymore.

Unless of course I read the question wrong and was supposed to put what hope I believed I had before: that was the earthly hope.

lilbluekitty - first off, thanks for voting! The question you refer to simply asks where you think you'll end up after you die, so you could have ticked the option that says "I am of the anointed (heavenly hope)" because, doctrines aside, it means essentially the same thing. However, I understand why you would feel the need to distance yourself from Witness dogma surrounding the anointed, so I will try to reflect this more when the same question is asked in future surveys. I appreciate this feedback.

00DAD - I got your message, wow thanks for that! I won't be able to implement all of those fine suggestions on this survey because it's already started and I don't want to skew the figures. However, your ideas will definitely go towards the development of the 2013 survey, thanks!

Londo111 - thanks for taking part! You're not the first to flag the "born again" thing. I will make sure that future surveys give you the opportunity to simply tick either "Christian" or "Christian (Born Again)". I commend your outlook on things.

3rdgen - yes the "reformist" questions will also need tweaking in the next survey. I will make sure that the 2013 survey carries the option "Not worth reforming, the organization needs to be closed down" or something like that. Thanks for taking part anyway!

Band on the Run - I'm afraid you lost me with the remark about the "Choir", what was that a reference to? Please excuse my ignorance. Yes you're right, it is amazing how unequivocal the voting is going so far. It should send a very clear message out to the GB once all the votes are in. I'm glad you enjoyed taking the survey, and you have my sincere thanks for doing so.

jam - glad you enjoyed taking it! I hate surveys too, but this one is pretty empowering as Band on the Run has suggested.

Mickey mouse - I assume you're referring to the Cult Free Radio interview?! By all means hazard a guess as to who I really am, but please do it via a PM in case you get it right!

scary21 - thanks for that feedback. In future we will try to ask how folks came into the organization, whether through being called on or by being "born in". I agree that being "born in" changes things somewhat, because you're indoctrinated from a very early age and feel you have little choice. Good point - it will go on my list for the 2013 survey.

Thanks to everyone for taking part, and please keep your comments and suggestions coming in!

    Hey cedars!

Will the 2011 survey results make it into a press release in some shape or form - something like "war of words"? One imagines rolling publicity could boost 2012 survey taker numbers. Sorry if I've missed any developments.

Hi Fernando! The 2011 results are nearly ready, and will be published on jwsurvey.org in the next couple of days. I will do a separate post once they're up.

My plan is to make the results freely available as a downloadable PDF on the site, and then send links to the religious affairs correspondents of all major newspapers in the UK. If anyone can volunteer to undertake a similar effort for other countries such as the USA or Australia/NZ, I would be extremely grateful.

Just finished the survey. It is very well done this year.

It did also help that I read all the comments on here first.

Thanks for all your excellent work cedars & Juan

Thanks Kahlua. It's hard work at times (particularly for Juan!) but very well worth it. The very existence of the survey is a triumph - getting a good number of votes in is just a bonus.

Cedars - Is this the same document that you were inquiring about someone in NYC hand delivering to Bethel?

I'm sure you put a lot of time and effort into the survey, so, really wouldn't be realistic for anyone in Bethel to be interested in the results like we are here.

I was referring to preaching to the choir. People who are active here are not neutral. I'm not surprised the voting is so lop-sided. It surprised me that the Witnesses garnered any votes. It also shows that the people answered do not represent a gamut of opposition to the Witnesses. It looks as though, almost unanimously, we are utterly fed up with the Witness and also do not recognize their legitimacy.
