[No, Nancy, none of this is aimed at you....]

    Geez! tec

First you claim that "god" was there in the beginning, even though I pointed out that there were other gods there and that little desert "god" wasn't heard from until WAAY later....

Then you start in with "well, those gods are just versions of this god"; which is BEYOND being out-of-touch with the facts...

Then the conversation moves to your method of picking and choosing which scriptures YOU will believe in, as being "uncorrupted"...

Then when people [like me] point out that the bible writers thought that EVERYTHING they wrote was "uncorrupted", you start twisting scripture around AGAIN!!!

You haven't done a THING towards convincing me - except that you've convinced me that you are SERIOUSLY out of touch, not only with reality, but also with what constitutes Christianity for nearly every other Christian on the face of this planet...

No, you sure haven't convinced me of ANY of your bizarre arguments, but you've sure shown what a manipulator you try to be...

I don't recall which poster made the comment earlier, that they felt sorry for you, but I've come to the same conclusion.

You are most to be pitied. You can't even stay in touch with the tenets of your own faith.

I don't need to convince you of anything Zid. You accused me of things that are not true. (me thinking atheism is a religion; me denying evolution; me thinking that God is protecting the bible) All of those things are untrue statements that you have made based on your own thoughts and NOT on anything that I have written. So I agree, there is no point in continuing, though I will if you want to. You are not listening or understanding anything I am saying. If you were, you would not be coming to those conclusions.

Or you are the manipulator that you are accusing me of being.

    Peace,

    Tammy

Well, it looks like this thread has been progressing nicely.

    Good morning, everyone!

It wasnt meant to get heated, I sincerely thought it would bridge the gap between the atheists and non (tec and N.drew) by explaining where we come from (afterall we once came from the same place as they currently do) ... but it very quickly gets hijacked into circular arguments about opinion on an old book.

Maybe if you are an atheist, you could post why you decided on such a huge decision.

Tec and N.drew why not just be respectful and listen to peoples beliefs for a moment......

I should clarify, their non beliefs...

Snare, I do listen to the atheist and their reason not to believe. I have thought 'baby with the bathwater' on occasion, if the reason someone no longer believes in God is because of the false things taught about him. However, if an atheist says it is for other reasons, then no problem.

My first response on this thread was not to your op, but to something you said afterward:

You can look for secular reasons to hold onto religion if you wish, but the reality is you are choosing comfort over truth.

How can you ask people not to impose their assumptions upon you about why you don't believe... but then impose your assumptions on them of why they do believe?

That question never got answered, though I asked it a couple of times to a couple of people.

I have answered every question that you have asked me. If have not returned insult when it has been given to me. Can you please show me where I have not been respectful of someone else's belief or non-beleif?

    Peace,

    Tammy

. but it very quickly gets hijacked into circular arguments about opinion on an old book.

"atheism" to me means non interest in any spirit of Higher Intelligence. That is a healthy definition of it.

An unhealthy definition is atheism- the absolute absence of a Higher Intelligence.

I do not get fustrated with you for your nonbelief. You are doing quite well. But why are you frustrated with us? It appears you want us to come over to nonbelief. But that is how we started. I am not going back.

I believe, correct me if I'm wrong, please, it was not I who brought up the Bible, was it? If it was, then please accept my apology. I tend to respond to the last post I read.
