Thanks for keeping up the momentum everyone.
I'll tell you what, for a non-JW, "Cupcake" over on the manchester forum is no quitter! He/she is defending the JWs tooth and nail, and conveniently side-stepping the main arguments against charitable status. It may be that he/she is lying, and is in fact a JW (or has relatives who are JWs) - or even more disturbing, could it be that even nonJWs are against our cause?! It's too awful to contemplate!

Azazel - it's encouraging to know that loyalty to Her Majesty continues to be strong amongst the colonials!! It would be great if you could vote, but it seems that only UK citizens can participate. I guess it makes sense, because our parliament has no jurisdiction over Canada (ah, if only it were like the good old days....) so I guess that vis-a-vis Canadians don't have any say in our legislative procedure. It's a shame, but understandable I suppose. Still, I'm delighted that many across the pond are trying to get the word out about the petition to friends and relatives back home in blighty!!

Another 200 fliers gone out in my former territory. I was spotted this time so I reckon a "friendly" call from the elders might ensue. Bring it on!

Is there anyway to overcome people's natural tendancy to not sign petitions because they do not want to get involved or are too busy? Although flyers are a good idea to remind people to logon to sign the petition, most people need personal encouragement to actually sign a petition.
In the USA people ask people to sign paper petitions at grocery stores and shopping malls. If a person does not sign the petition immediately the chances that they will sign it later decrease with time. IMO I feel that that the e-petition has a signicant disadvantage over paper petitions, because people will go home and forget to logon and sign the petition.
It has been 5 days since the e-petition was started and only 108 persons have signed as of today. To reach the goal of 100,000 signatures, 1370+ signatures should have been collected today. I suggest that more is needed than passing out flyers or sending out emails to achieve this worthwhile goal.
If people are willing to pass out flyers, how many people would be willing to get approved by the government to setup booths in public areas to help people to enter information into the e-petition webpage? Smart phones (maybe?), Ipads, wifi laptops, or computers at public libraries could be used to collect signatures. Or, can paper petitions be collected and scanned into the government system? Even active JWs with doubts could participate by dressing up in costumes with masks to attract attention to the booths and help people to enter information into the petition.
Peace be with you and everyone, who you love,
Robert
