  Venetian - WOW that's fantastic! I am SO chuffed to think that the fliers (which were only made available for download yesterday) are already finding their way through letter boxes!

  I really can't thank you enough for your initiative and enthusiasm. I hope others can find it in themselves to follow your example.

  The way I look at it, millions of Brits would happily sign the petition if they only knew about it. If more of us can follow your lead, we will easily surpass the 100,000 signature required to bring this before parliament.

  Thanks Cedars. I really feel this is SO important. The Society do not deserve charitable status precisely because of the damaging policies highlighted in the flyer (and others). I've recently spoken to several medical staff who are familiar with the Witnesses but have NO IDEA that they actively endorse and practice shunning of disagreeing family members. All have expressed their surprise and abhorrence at such a practice.

  The more publicity and awareness we can give to the petition, the more questions the Society will have to face, and the more people across the country will be protected.

  I will continue to distribute the flyers a widely as I can but if there's any other publicity suggestions you have, please let me know.

  We're now on 79 signatures. It would be great if I could wake up to treble figures tomorrow morning.

  We need to be raking in 275 signatures per day on average to hit our target, but we have to start somewhere. Hopefully as word spreads the momentum will build.

  If you check the OP a little further down, you will see I've made fliers that people can print out and distribute if they feel so inclined.

  What are everyone's opinions on contacting the various Atheist/Humanist/Secular organizations in the UK?

  They feel very strongly about the recent decisions on prayers before Council meetings, so they may be motivated to support campaigns such as this.

  iarts - brilliant idea. Do you want to try it or should I? I'm trying to stress in all forum posts or emails that this isn't a "hate" campaign, in that we're not trying to push a discriminatory message. We're simply pointing out that charities should serve in the public benefit, and JWs clearly don't. I feel it's important to emphasise that in any email.
