The religion might be generally peaceful, but if you have 0.1% of them in some Islamic cult that blows things up on a first-strike offensive basis, that 0.1% can hardly be classified as peaceful. It also gives a bad name for the 99.9% that don't blow things up on a first-strike offensive basis.
Additionally, there are so many Muslims that are pxxxed off because too many Christian missions have resorted to rubbish to recruit them. Going to war-torn and disease-ridden countries to kidnap children (and worse) so they can be raised Christians, setting up fake mosques to teach fake Islam that ensnares them into Christi-SCAM-ity, and putting up humanitarian "relief" efforts contingent on becoming Christians is a first-strike offensive act. Muslims, who sincerely believe that Christianity is a major spiritual threat (and yes, Christian missionaries destroy cultures), then feel the need to defend their innocent children from this scourge, and blowing up churches is often their only recourse (especially when their government won't do anything about it).
No, I don't believe in blowing things up on a first-strike offensive basis, and shame and guilt on any Islamic cults that preach that. I also don't believe that Christian missionaries have any right to conquer countries to destroy indigenous cultures, kidnap and rape children to recruit families into their scam, rig up fake centers of worship to ensnare unsuspecting victims, or create problems so they can use "relief(??)" to coerce people to become Christians. Nor do Christians have any right to impose their interpretations of the Bible as the absolute truth, especially when they distort the Bible for their own ends. When the government does nothing about this, it is up to the people to defend themselves against spiritual rape. And when Christians persistently initiate the use of force to recruit members, the Muslims have the right to fight back.

I don't know the full facts of the burning, but if it was as presented by the U.S military, a mistake, and one that is easy to make if you do not read Arabic, it should be excused totally by all people.
Even if it were deliberate, to kill for the burning of a book of doubtful provenance is never justified.
It is ignorance that fosters extremism, we must fight it with education, bomb the shit out of them with knowledge. Not easy to do with illiterate people.
