The (joking) implication was, Cofty, that Canadians are not more intelligent - just more polite. Which is a fairly impolite thing to say, I would think.

I don't know about the intellect comparison, I'm in UK, but I must confess that in my experience Americans are more articulate, verbally. I expect many would disagree?

Don't know about the Nesbitt fellow but IMHO Stephen Fry could pretty much articulate circles around God. I've scarce heard anyone with a better command of the English language.
