I think that if they believed it 100% they would not be so tough on apostates.
Truth stands up to scrutiny and they know full well their religion doesn't, that is why they demonize us. Their huge empire is in danger of collapsing around their ears, possibly in their lifetime and let's face it, if it does, where will they go?
I personally think the Governing Body is a blend of those who are devious and know full well what they are doing, and those who are well-meaning and genuinely think they are "serving Jehovah" in their position.
This is what I think as well. Add to that the obvious result that the devious cynics are the ones to rise to prominence in the GB - they will do anything to get ahead and have their way.
I don't think they have studied propaganda techniques and purposely employ them.
The problem is the doctrine, the material is just presented in such a way because it can't stand on facts and logic alone.

Probably true, but then David Koresh or Jim Jones probably did not study propaganda formally either.
Some people just are naturally good at it as amatuers.

If you seriously disect current WT material, you WILL clearly see pyschological manipulation at it's best. The april 15th WT is a perfect example. Look at key words and phrases. One sentence that really cracks me up is "Jahovah is watching" if someone is talking to a Df'd person or not. Really? Using this childish tactic to grown adults?! Of cours he is watching.....
Plus who is going to be the successors of current GB members, when these die out. It would be awesome to have a chart of some kind to see just how the borg is runned.
I don't believe it's the doctrine. Jesus and his apostles layed out things clearly and easly. It's really not that hard. I personally believe these men are not as wise as they'd like themselves to be, and it's now staring them in the face.

I think they are worried about the money.
For the love of money is the root of all sorts of injurious things and by reaching out for this love (to guard it) some have been led astray from the faith (in God) and have stabbed themselves all over with many pains. NWT 1 Timothy 6:10
Why do they guard their money like it is something to be saved? Without it they are exposed as frauds.
I don't know which is worse -- knowing that you are pulling a scam or being deceived by your own deception.

From the person's point of view I suspect that deceiving one's self feels better.
But from the point of view of Heaven and The Christ I suspect Heaven would rather it be a scam.
Because a criminal is easier to prosecute than a lie.
@NDrew......no they have not gone to jail, because many cases have been civil court cases....pay outs! They have not gone to jail because they have attornys to make sure they don't.
The GB is just a front ... there are invisible shareholdres behind them ...
