I love corned beef I need to pick one up to cook. Also a TJ fan. Nothing like a good beer, corned beef and all the sides

(side point)Plus I'm Irish and if I was born 7 hours earlier would have been named Patrcia. Glad I got to the 18th, I'm not a Patricia

And for dessert, I am consuming a delicious Mango Key Lime Pie - loaded with whipped cream and sliced almonds. Hmmm.

Corned beef and cabbage... mmmm, this is the second time this week it's been brought up (once in my RL) .... gotta get me some on payday.

It's only seasonal there? Oh, my, that is a shame. It was a staple in the Maritimes 'back in the day', and we have local shops that pickle their own ... do you use brisket or American Plate?

hahaha,,, you KNOW how excited I get about food!!! That's life, though,,, some folks eat to live, but I live to eat!

@ Disillusioned --- you are SO RIGHT about the fish!!!! Even today's halibut is farmed.... blech!

Also -- Alaskan Cod,,,, is NOT cod... there is NO COD in Alaska. It is just a fish whose flakes/texture resemble cod.

I lived down the block from the best Jewish deli in NY. There corned beef and pastrami were superb. They kept kosher, too. People would drive in from the suburbs. On weekends, there was a 45 minute to get inside. They always had a fresh turkey carcass. I buy corned beef here from the deli counter in the grocery store. It taste like two different substances.

The potatoes and carrots sound like a great addition. My mom used regular white potatoes. Red ones would be a better balance.

    A great threat.

The deli is called The Second Avenue Deli. It was on Second Avenue in my binge days. The owner was murdered taking the deposit to the bank. The family moved to Carnegie Hill neighborhood.

If you look at Geneaology tables, you may well be linked in some degree to the Mayflower descendents.

America is great. We grab the best food from every ethnicity.
