S&r, i understand being sensative... I really do. So many elders have caused harm to so many, that i dont take personally. What i do take personally is people expecting me to live by their standards.

Everyone in life needs a bad guy to point their finger towards. Ohhhh white people did this to me, ohhhhh black people did this to me, ohhhhhh the elders did this to me., meanwhile the victim only recieved negative experiences from one or a handful of particular individuals. Unfortunately after the fact, they run around pointing the finger at everyone who fits whatever demographic. If it makes them feel good, gets a little bit of steam off their chest, so be it.
Truth be told you can take any one individual on this thread or message baord and if you knew everything about them, you'll find something to disagree with them, and in plenty of cases vehemently. Threads like these come off to me like bait and switches designed to make the unsuspecting elder who posts on it, a pinata'.

Exactly Outlaw LOL. That's exactly it!!! I have to admit though I'm glad people have an outlet to get things off their chest, so if they want to bash elders, be my guest. I just hate how they've been hurt by one individual or a group of individuals and then want to point the finger at everyone who holds a position within any congregation, even a congregations continents away from themselves, and yet still view elders they've never met as being part and parcel to their pain. If that's the case then maybe I should say fukk all white people, fukk all police officers, yaddda yaddda.........To me it's the equivalent of pulling the race card simply because your personality makeup isn't complex enough to see the multiplicity of everyone's individual and unique circumstances.

I feel you and others like you are performing a very valuable service.
I always used the term public piñata for serving as an elder. You are held up high by the branch with a figurative rope around your neck, while someone beats the crap out of you just to see what shakes out.

I think being an elder and knowing it's all a sham, must be an incredibly difficult place to be and I really feel for you...
