Do demons really exist?

My dad (JW) used to recount a demon experience after he "naively" exchanged literature with someone of another religion. He claimed that he laid down on his bed to take a nap that afternoon and was at some point attacked by a demon. (He felt a distinct weight on his chest.)

    Sounds like sleep paralysis.

No Demons, No Gods, No Devils...

    Just our Imaginations.

The demons that people talk about are demons from within. The devil is symbolic he is just a symbol of human nature.

Satan wants you to NOT believe in him, that's when he has you. Not everyone will experience demonic influence, but those who have will become believers REAL QUICK.

Have you ever watched the twilight zone narrated by rod sterling? When I was 14 years old and my older brother who was 16 at the time were watching this program late at night.

It was about this man who died in his house and his spirit got stuck in the attic. His wife would go up there every night and talk to his spirit trying to appease him. Well I don't remember a lot of it since that was 41 years ago, but I will tell you this.

My brother and I turned off the T.V. And we were talking about how spooky that was, when I kid you not we observed the rocking chairs cushion sink like someone sat in it and then the chair began to rock violently.

Scared the b- Jesus out of us and we ran from the room. NOT A GOOD FEELING.

Best answer I can give is...who knows?

They might. They might not. Same as God. Who really knows?

So, nearly as they used to say in the intro to Hong Kong Phooey....

Are they figments of the imagination?....Are they real?....

    Could be......!!!!!

    No one can really say.

But why do you want to know?

Are you afraid they're going to give you cooties?

For myself, when I stopped believing in eeevil spirit creatures, the big bad wolf simply vanished and my life became peaceful.

I believe the only power a “force” has over me is the one I allow it to have.

"I mean, is there really any scientific evidence to support their existence?..."

Oh, please.... Tell me that you didn't say that!!!

I dunno 'bout "demunzzz" - well, actually, I don't think they exist at all - but this lil' ol' She-Devil sure do exist!!!

But now to be just a bit more serious...

You've been hiking, right? Camping? BAckpacking???

Being off by oneself in a Canadian mountain valley with rockfall occurring every night, off in the distance... Hearing big - I mean, VERY BIG porcupines chewing on branches and twigs - sounds like ghouls munching on dead mens' bones, to my imaginative ear... Seeing that cold, blue ice and frigid water - and landing in it once or twice... And feeling that icy grip bite down on one's skin, and realize what could happen if I DIDN'T get out of the water in time... Coyotes doing a yappity song right next to the tent [in New Mexico...] Owls hooting off in the woods [all over the place...]

That kind of stuff can make one believe in "spooky" stuff, especially if one is in a primitive mindset, seeking to place some sentient "form" in charge of these real and imagined dangers, a sentient "form" that could possibly be propitiated for one's safety....

That place in the primitive mind is where both gods and devils - demunzzzz - come from...

It's an easy topic to dismiss if you've never had dealings with demons. And if you're the type looking for a scientific experiment to proove it, you'll never find one.

My wife played an ouija board when she was 14 years old. At first she thought it was a joke. She asked questions about her future, and they described many details about her future life, including her husband (me). Everything they said was spot on including my height, weight, features, the year we got married, number of children, and many other details.

So, yes. In my opinion they do exist.

But why would they necessarily be demons, biometrics? Why not just spirits, if you forget the JW indoctrination?

That's assuming they exist of course.

    Uhhhm...

But biometrics, her description of your wife's future hubby could just as easily have become a self-fulfilling prophecy...

She went looking for someone who fit that description...

And she was feeling the need to wed within a certain year...
