It's unfortunate that more conservative republicans did not support the only real conservative in the race, Ron Paul.

I know he is only decent candidate on the table. He should ditch the republican party and start a new party of his own: the freedom party. I think he would actually have a shot.

NewChapter mentioned keeping young voters (women in particular) activated. Anyone want to look at the unemployment statistics in that age group?

    On that subject:

    http://www.nationalreview.com/articles/295571/millennials-turn-rightward-nathaniel-botwinick

T he “luster of Obama’s promises has worn off” and “hope” and “change” no longer drive young voters. In 2008, the “millennial” generation, comprising those between the ages of 18 to 29, voted for President Obama by a margin of 2–1. In 2004, President Bush lost this demographic by nine points to John Kerry. But, for the first time in over a decade, it appears the trend has reversed — young Americans are now reconsidering their allegiances to the Democratic party. Why have the millennials, the group that Obama has described as “the foundation of [his] campaign,” abandoned him? To quote another Democratic campaign, “it’s the economy, stupid.”

According to research conducted for Resurgent Republic, a conservative policy organization, young voters are no longer enamored with the president because of the current state of the economy. The millennials chosen for the focus groups were all self-identified independents who had voted for Obama in 2008 but were now undecided on the generic ballot. The dramatic effects of the “Great Recession” had shifted the mindsets of these younger Americans — unemployment amongst this crucial Obama demographic is currently at its highest point since the end of World War II.

The youth vote isn't going to be the force for Obama it was in 2008. So sorry, but Obama is going to pay the piper for his economic malfeasance. Looks like they are starting to see he didn't work out very well when it comes to their interests. Stiffing them with a big insurance bill they didn't have to worry about previously (thanks Obamacare) isn't going to be helpful either.

There's only one candidate who has received enthusiastic support from young voters, to the extent that much of his campaigning has taken place on college campuses. I'll let you guess that one.

    OK, I lied.

'young voters' it should say 'some young voters'. This will be a match like in the 60s with LBJ and Goldwater. 'Economic malfeasance' when you blow up the housing market and 4 million construction jobs it takes awhile to repair. Remember the housing bubble in 1989-1991 it took 10 years to heal from the Reagan/Bush economic malfeasance.

Romney is actually not winning the "male" vote.

    http://news.investors.com/article/607100/201204091758/obama-romney-poll-gender-contraception-women.htm

It's gone back and forth, and currently obama is again edging out Romney in the Male vote by a couple of percentage points. It's not statistically significant, but saying that Romney has the male vote in the bag is a gross overstatement.

Bush crashed the economy. It is recovering---slowly. It will recover, and when it does, these young women would still like to have a bit of self determination and not be led by the party that embraces women hating policies. Again, you are underestimating how important these issues are. The GOP did us a great favor by activating these young ones and schooling them on the threat out there.

And they will also remember that when they were worried about the economy and jobs, the GOP was concerned about birth control, abortion, gay marriage and repealing equal pay amendmants. Yes---that's what the GOP has offered. Union busting instead of protecting their future. If we keep talking to them, we will be able to teach them to look through the memes and see what was really happening. While their parents were worrying about losing unemployment benefits, elected officials were legislating vaginal probes. Young men are more enlightened too---they also are disgusted.

When the jobs become available, young women would like the chance to take them, and not be barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen.

The Black Panther party has been almost dormant for several years. They have been given a jolt in the arm by Obama's resurrecteion of class/race warfare, the president himself jumping into the Martin case with inflammatory rhetoric, ala, Jackson and Sharpton. It is now to the point that Louis Farrakhan is dusting off his old hate speeches to be trotted out again. The ground is fertile. Hello, 1960's.

The media and the race industry are happy for anything that distracts from Obama's catastrophic failure as a leader. Does anyone remember the last time racial tensions have been cultivated so blatantly?

I may not cut and paste a lot of partisan blogs here, but I have an opinion too. I tend to be blunt. This forum seems to harbor a lot of folks who have very thin skin when it comes to the give and take of a forum that offers a poltical catagory.

Stepping on Zids toes obviously has repercussions! I love the touchy, feely pacifists.

If they had taken the high road, we'd not be here today. Some people fear he--and his buddies in the media--have set race relations back decades.
