When I watched it the other day certain things struck me. Why when Henry Grew and George Storrs were applauded for examining the scriptures and finding out things that weren't scriptural in their church and then leaving, when today if it happens amongst JWs they are called apostates?

Why does the video mention nothing about Russells pyramidology? There are photos of him in the video at the Pyramid of Giza (during his world travels) and the chart of the 'Plan of the Ages' is being held by his followers (taken from the book 'The Divine Plan of the Ages'). This plan takes all of the measurements from the Pyramid to fit in with Bible Prophecy and where Russell calculated the date 1914.

Also in the video it says about 1914 that they realised it was the date Jesus Christ started ruling in heaven, the start of his presence, when in actual fact they believed 1874 was the start and believed it until 1930.

Also where it talks about the 'Gentile Times' where did they get it from? They show that it's to do with the tree dream of Nebuchadnezzar and the 7 'times' but the only mention of 'Gentile Times' or the 'Appointed Times of the Nations' is in Luke 21:24 where Jesus is clearly talking of a time beginning in the 1stC and not as they claim 600 years earlier!

Take charge of the situation. They bothered you enough, and they can't answer anything but appear to parrot what mother tells them. If you have a question for them, get them to do their research and not give you any generic answer but detailed researched answer. I think you talked to them about 607 and they couldn't give you satisfying answer so why waste more of your time with them, they already are wasting your wife's life. If they want faith in action, get them to explain to you Russell's pyramid and all that it meant and how the calculations related to the Russell's dates, and why one version of the Thy Kingdom Come book has one set of measurements and a revised book has another number while the conclusions are the same. What kind of math does one need to come up with that shit. They're wasting your time because it's easy time for them. Don't give them satisfaction in wasting your time with their bullshit, tell them straight out that you're not interested in their deception and will never join a cult. I'm really sorry about your wife but don't let them waste your time. How long has it been that you were nice to them? These people are so dense they simply don't get it. Want another discussion that's more recent than the pyramid, then get them to explain to you why wts uses academic dishonesty in their publications. You can mention the evolution book, or Origins brochure or any of their articles on 607BC as the date for Jerusalem's destruction. If they can't do their own research and get their ass to a library and find the original quotes, simple tell them they are wasting your valuable time and that you rather watch the dumbest show on tv than listen to their stupidity.

I wish there was an easy hint to get your wife out of there but it really is up to her and until she wakes up there probably is nothing you can do to help. Enjoy your life, when she goes to meetings maybe do something that she would like to do but can't due to having to go to the meetings. Make her think about enjoyment you're having and her missing out but without you saying anything to her. I think you have to take a different approach to your wife as what you've been doing hasn't helped her see so maybe I'm wrong but that's my suggestion.

    Wish you luck.

Ask him this: If JWs (or Bible Students to be more accurate) were selected by Jesus in 1918/1919, then why don't "we" believe what was taught then?

If what was taught THEN is wrong, then surely Jesus would NOT have chosen them. If, on the other hand, what was taught was correct, then that is what we should be believing now.

    Either way they lose.

Oh, and did I mention: It's a cult!

They say in the video let scripture interpret scripture so why do they not allow the bible to speak for itself why do they insist that you use watchtower publications to interpret scripture.

I wouldn't give him the time of day. I would insist that he answers your previous question before taking up any more of your time.

Yeah he's trolling for some easy service time. Since he hasn't answered your blood question, I would refuse.

Act offended that you have asked him to explain one of their core teachings and he is either too lazy or too embarrassed to answer your question. Tell him you have dozens of questions on that topic that need answered before you will proceed. That will make him go away real quick.

if you wanted to offend every witness including your wife then I would show him the ICSA (international cult studies association) event in Philidelphia especially for witnesses. Saying "were you aware you were in such an important cult you have to have your own conference?" However this is a risky strategy and could backfire but you would probably be struck off the return visit list.

Tell him that after viewing the video, you examined what Russell actucally wrote in Studies in the Scriptures and found it very, very funny that they hold his teachings in such high esteem. I know that I'd decline to watch it since my laughter would probably hurt the feelings of a JW believer.
