"I don't know!" Isn't an answer. It is an admission of ignorance. It means that in order to tell you the answer, he needs to do some research, or consult with his Guru. Tell him he is welcome when he has done that, then get him to commit to a time frame.

If he doesn't know why is he following a doctrine himself that he does not understand? I would ask him how on a matter that affects life and death decisions he has chosen to be complacent and not investigate this thoroughly? I would suggest if he has been lazy on this issue he has been lazy on others and until he has investigated all his doctrines thoroughly including their origin and reasoning he is not in a position to teach you.
Ask him to come back when he is qualified to do so.

Thanks for your responses, Black Sheep and Nugget.
He called me about an hour before we were suppose to meet and cancelled our meeting. He gave no definite time on when we were suppose to meet again. It looks like it is over for now. When he calls again, I will certainly mention what you mentioned Black Sheep and Nugget.

Ask your wife to find out why he cancelled and when he is going to come.
