For the first time in history all a person has to do to find out what a religion really teaches and how their leadership thinks is to go on line. I imagine concerned family members and friends are checking out JW's on line and then waving a red flag so that the one who is studying has to take stock and see if they really want to continue to baptism.

The other issue could be born-ins for the same reasons.

Computers probably are picking up there in Mexico a lot too,,but to their culture credit, they value "word of mouth." Also, they do not take kindly to anyone hurting their 'family' members.

I think in some cultures, one dominant family member would go 'in' the organization and the rest follow. Now, maybe it is starting to happen, one dominant family goes 'out' and the rest follow?? Perhaps a good, spirtual type 'revenge' in store for WTS Headquarters?

Yea in Mexico, a few things are viewed very different than the dubs here do in the States.

1st of all, never tell a Mexican Mother she can't talk to her children. Good luck on that one. They'll take u out. We have a few df'd or DA'd relatives and people still talk.

Education is a MUST. Most of my relatives and my wifes relatives go to college in Mexico. Lots of proffesionals, and NO ONE has an issue with this.

Standard of living is going up. If you have been living poor, working to break poverty, and a religion says stay poor, you will get a huge hell no in Mexico. They already view religion as something used for control. Especially the very rich against the poor.

Sure at 1st the growth was huge and the GB patted themselves on the back, but it's a very different culture and it's changing rapidly down there. In the next 50 years Mexico is going to be one of the top 5 economies in the world.

Wha happened? - i've been to mexico a couple of times (have family there) and I was really surprised at how many of the witnesses are either professionals or are at university/college. Much more than you find in the UK.

I say good on them for doing it despite all the negative propoganda in the literature. Perhaps expanding critical thinking skills will help them see the truth about the truth.

for some, education is the only way out of poverty. They've had enough. A few blissful years with the WT in control will fade

JWs are just one of many similar religions chipping away at the Catholic church in Mexico. Maybe they are losing ground to the Pentecostals , Mormons or Baptists.

JWs are utterly clueless about how other religions proseltyze.

I went to an international convention in Russia in the early 90's soon after the breakup of the USSR.

I was stunned to find out that many of "Christendom's churches" were flying out missionaries by the humdreds to do the missionary thing in Russia. There were a couple dozen on my plane ride home who were also returning to the USA.

It caused a serious cognitiive dissonance moment - "wait a minute, I thought only JWs were preaching???"

isn't it funny when a JW finds out they really aren't the center of the universe, let alone on the map

The JW's in S. America are having a lot of upheaval about the KH scams though. Every month or so I hear about congregations and even circuits (elders etc) that protest the WTBTS decision to make upgrades, sales or build new buildings just for the sake of extracting money in donations.
