Have you checked: Where there any International Conventions in service year 2009/2010 in Mexico or/and in Peru?

Such events boost the number of baptisms for that one service year (especially for the born-ins). Therefore, it would not make sense to compare baptism numbers of two years if there was an International Convention in one of those years.

The internet and social media work beyond the MENA region. For awhile, Mexican/S.Americans may have been ignorant of the WT ways, but they are no stupider than Americans(US) which means that they, too, can see a pile of crap once they realize that the light dusting of sugar is just a distraction from the fecal matter.

It is interesting that probably most congregations in Mexico & S. America probably have an elder body that actually has the courage to say NO and mean it. That puts the WTBTS at a loss of what to do.

When the majority of halls are displaying the same character then the Borg just has to go along with it and try to change things gradually not over night the way they deal with things here in the U.S. by just disbanding halls.

Seems even the WT Spanish translators had an independent spirit in that article about poor Selma that her husband "hit" her. They chose not to use the word "hit" as in the English language it supported her need to 'put up' with being "hit."

Again, not wanting to appear pedantic but WHERE have these figures come from?

Source from 2011 Service Report in 2012 Yearbook and compared to 2010 Service Report noted in 2011 Yearbook.

Do you have the yearbooks? I could get a link of copies if you wish?

Thank you Gayle. Yes, if you have links or scans that would be greatly appreciated.

Expect to see decreases in Spanish speaking countries as visas for need-greaters are no longer being renewed and the WTBS are no longer co-signing for the visas. The growth in S. America was largely due to the number of foreigners that went there to have a greater share in the preaching work. Now that these folks have been returning to their home countries over the past year, many of the natives will stop being active. The foreigners had a big influence in converting people.

This leaves the doors wide open for other religions. Plus the other religions build schools, clinics and provide food and clothing. The JW's don't stand a chance. And the shunning in the JW religion just doesn't go over well in countries where "family" is the foundation of everything.
