Lets give the Mexicans credit. They probably said "Overlap generation, WTF is that?"
Mexican here. That's exactly what happened to me, one of the main reasons I left. I remember when I was a kid witnesses showed A LOT more zeal, for example, many pioneered, even though most regular pioneers here don't have cars. We, rank and file publishers would go out in the ministry for 3 hours at a time.

Now all of that is gone, you can really sense a lack of zeal and a growing disillusionment among the JW's here.

    wha happened,

I have always been skeptical about the WTS numbers outside of the U.S. no less inside.

Perhaps Mexican people have seen so many scam artists before becoming JWs, it was easier for them to catch on to the BS and get out before they'd invested too much of their lives in the cult.

well I'm Mexican. I almost went to the spanish hall. I hired alot of brothers from the spanish hall. I always thought it interesting that sometimes the views differed so much from the English cong. I guess the BS alarm gets triggered as they've seen their fair share of liars running the world around u.

Here's something that may fudge the numbers here in the US. Mexicans aren't immigrating into the US much anymore. In fact, due to their economy improving faster than ours, the jobs are there. With all the immigration to the states, the foreign langauge halls were ripe for growth, now, the last area of the US to experiance growth, possibly now fading, you may finally see some negative numbers

As usual, this is a wild exaggeration aimed at spreading unsubstantiated gossip. There was no "decreased critical 26.9%". The decrease was a mere 26.8%. Do your math correctly!

Many thanks for your insider view Bucholz. In the 1970s, growth rates of the JWs in South American countries were heralded by the organization as evidence of Jehovah's blessing. I had wondered how long the rank and file in those countries could maintain such zeal in the face of the worsening world economy and the constant cutbacks by the organization.

I've also heard from my friends still in the organization here in New Zealand, that increasing numbers of JW parents in good standing are keeping up contact with their disfellowshipped children - despite the constant hammering message from the Watchtower telling JW parents to limit their contact with their own children. It doesn't go down well with parents to be told to completely shun their own flesh and blood!

All I'm saying is that anybody can manipulate numbers for their agenda. I just don't trust the WTS.

I can hear them spinning this into "signs that the end is near"
