Even just the concept of no original sin, no need to feel saved, is a mighty great plus in my book.
Fun though it is to play around with, this old Norse religion has a great deal to recommend it. I gave the link to modern-day Asatru above. Look at this bit where they define their religion. They believe in
"an underlying, all-pervading divine energy or essence which is generally hidden from us, and which is beyond our immediate understanding. We further believe that this spiritual reality is interdependent with us - that we affect it, and it affects us. "
To me, that sounds eminently sensible. And perhaps not altogether so very far from Buddhism and Taoism and other ancient religions that have far more historical perspective and wisdom than the Watchtower.
I don't want to hijack this fun Thor's Day thread of elderelite's, but I think he might actually have struck gold by accident.
It's that time of the week again, and it's Thor's Day! Thursday once more.
Thor is really making his presence felt again. Storms not much short of a hurricane...certainly here...are pounbding our shoores and although I haven't heard any thunder so far I'm sure he's getting it ready.
Thor has the power! Thor is our friend. Thor has the hammer!

Many many many many moons and a few congregational changes/shuffles/dividings/CO Messing with the schedules just cuz he can ago.....EE and I had the same CBS night. ....we would text tongue/cheek commentary back and forth....while enjoying a smuggled alcohol laced beverage.....
I miss Everclear spiked lemonade....
LOL...maybe I should enquire about EE's present CBS night, tie-in and 'recycle' his congo's comments each week! (nah)
Damn it !!!!! I missed thor day yesterday!!!!! I praised him mightly on the athiest thread but forgot to post here... Thankfully Thor is a good guy all round and understands i was working long hours for the family and he respects that..... Unlike the desert god who is always crying about 'do more for me do more for me'... Thor is a stable god. Not petty or whiny....
As for you mrs charlinko...... "struck gold by accident"????? How dare you! My lords speaking to me was no accident, no more so than the very thunder and lightning he commands! No the all father and his son, the thunderer, FOUND us on purpose! We have been embrace them and friend them! We are because of it!
Yea those were fun times knot.... But more ahead for all of us as we praise the thunderer and stand in awe of his hammer!

Thor's sticking around here all weekend. Not that he's ever far away, but we have gales, rain, thunder and lightning! He's very pleased with us all.
My Thor Day wasn't particularly great, either.....What am I doing wrong?
