Seems like a good time to picket outside headquarters, maybe even local KHs.

Maybe Terry, or someone good with words can compose a generic letter to local news (small and large media outlets) and we can send it in to to various places in different countries.

    From the article ...

The Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of New York, the Jehovah's Witnesses' legal entity, is responsible for the entire punitive damages amount and 40 percent of the compensatory damages, said Rick Simons, attorney for the plaintiff.

wow, the attorney called the victim a "rank and file" member in that article. i never heard a higher up refer to them as that, i thought that was just a sarcastic way we referred to ourselves. wow.

and mega wow to this part:

“The verdict is significant because the policy of hiding sex abusers within the congregation was out in this case,” he said.

Simons also said the judgment was “one of the largest in the country for a child sex abuse single victim in a religious institution molestation case.”

Isn't it wonderful? Today is the first day of the "Safeguard Your Heart" district convention here in Birmingham, Alabama where I currently live. Can you imagine the consternation of the WTS to realize that some Witnesses will return home or to their hotel rooms from today's sessions, turn on their TV news and possibly get blitzed with this story? I can see the media linking it with the Jerry Sandusky trial going on in Pennsylvania!

If I were the Governing Body, I would cancel all my scheduled talks and appearances at any conventions and rush back to Brooklyn to deal with this mess. They can't afford to let convention spokesmen handle this story on their own. District conventions have been largely ignored in local media in recent years, but this is 'blood in the water' and the media sharks will be circling. Right now I suppose all we'll hear from WTS reps is a tight-lipped "No Comment". That will work for now, but eventually somebody in charge will have to face the music.
