I am getting the impression that this lady wanted to nail them to the outhouse wall more than she wanted the 28 million dollars.
Like Achilles. How remarkable.I think the Society might drop its appeal over the Conti case

" We know that most of the AHalls are paid for by the publishers donations before completion and WT continues to charge the same rent that they would previously have had. From what I have heard is that some assembly halls are sitting on 1 M or more and eventually donate it to wt."
this needs to be brought out again
1) The Assembly Halls are paid for from publishers donations
2) The WTS charges the publisher to use these halls
If I read that wrong please correct me, It can't be brought out enough, how the WTS fleece the sheep

I didn't know the WTS charges publishers to use an Assembly Hall paid for with voluntary donations. You gotta love it! Fleece the flock both coming and going. As Isaiah once cried out, "How long, O Jehovah?"

The risk of creating a bad precedentSome litigants — particularly businesses — should consider whether or not they want to create a binding precedent in the disputed area of the law. Trial court decisions are not binding on other courts. Once a case goes to appeal, however, a legal precedent may be set that will be binding on trial courts faced with the same issue in the future. (Not all appeals do result in binding precedents — this depends on whether the Court of Appeal decides to “publish” its decision. A large majority are not “published.”)
I feel this is a hard call. If they go ahead and pay, they may have more victims bring suit against them. If they appeal and lose, they may set a legal precedent "that will be binding on trail courts faced with the same issue in the future" as stated above. With the high profile child abuse cases that have been in the news in the last few days, the Court of Appeals may decide to "publish" it's decison should the WTS lose, therefor assuring a binding precedent. This could cost the WTS as much as a billion dollars depending on the amount of victims out there in the r/f willing to sue.

It's my understanding from reading something Randy published that she refused to settle because she wanted a jury to decide the case and deliver a public verdict.
Hopefully, this will lead others to have the courage to come forward.

Good one OUTLAW. Reminds me of the expression ...'A picture is worth a thousand words!'

If the WTS. was smart now they would learn that child abuse or pedophilia is not just a simple sin like fornication or adultery, where all to
be done is wag a finger at a person and quote a couple of scriptures.
Its much worse and that is the reason why in are modern society its considered a grievous crime, worthy of severe punishment.
The WTS. could actually gain public support by issuing a doctrinal mandate that states that all possible occurrences of pedophilia are to be brought
forward to the local legal authorities, irregardless if the accused denies any wrong doing. This way they would clean their hands of any
involvement of hiding these people within their ranks.
Quite frankly with all the media and public attention concerning this crime in recent years, if a person was to commit this crime,
it would blatantly obvious that he or she would be intensionally hiding behind the two witness rule.
The policy set by the WTS. that all of their devoted members shouldn't bring reproach upon god's earthly organization, is one that was followed for
decades and alot of people were victimized and hurt without the perpetrators being justifiably punished as a result this doctrinal policy.
Will the WTS. wake up or will they try to continue to protect its outward public image by continuing on the same path, time will
only tell. Now that some very open media attention has occurred of the organization trying to cover over or do little
about these kind of problems within their organization, they may finally make some direct policy changes.
I hope they do !
