  The NWT may not be accepted throughout in the scholarly community, but make no mistake: The NWT is one of the most widespread Bible versions anywhere to be ignored. Dr. Duthie did not mention the NWT at all when considering the ‘little formal training’ of some translators. However, he DOES mention the NWT at various places in his books, and even recommends it.

  Leolaia: I think an actual literal rendering would be more like "...who, being in the form of God, considered not equality to God something to be grasped".

  Leo, I like your suggested literal rendering, though I would go furtherand render the expression "being in the form of God" as "being in God's form." Though the meaning is apparently the same, the second rendering allows for the absence of the Greek article being manifested somewhat in the English translation.

  Or: "who in form of God existing not seizure ["snatching," Concordant] considered the to be equal [things - Marshall] to God" (Word Study Greek-English NewTestament)

  Yeah...well, "God's form" is closer to the Greek in terms of number of words, while "form of God" reflects the word order of the Greek. I guess its a trade off. :P

  When i discovered that the NWT at luke 22;29 says the word 'covenant' twice to imply another covenant like the one that was mentioned earlier in the chapter the New Covenant but the real greek words means to 'appoint' or to 'bestow', then i knew this was a bible translation changed for doctrinal benefits of the religion.
