How do you know it wasn't a demon pretending to be an angel of light?

sab - yea that is a better way to describe it, everything has an opposite, so he created the divisions i guess. or identified the differences. it's hard to explain. I'm not waiting to say what the good news is just to wait, it literally changes most of the bible, it unifies everything and it identifies tons of prophecies that nobody has realized were there and have been actively fullfilled, and the good news itself is a foretold prophecy in the scriptures as well and how it was realized and revealed was also foretold. It will be soon. I did think today...I realised in that book of Gen that there were sun, moon, stars and such made for 'appointed times' and 'signs'. If 2012 was truly a a biblical appointed time, and if the year is supposed to begin in Oct, and since what I learned happened a few days after, and if this is supposed to be a new age of enlightment, then what God revealed to me and what will happen when everyone shares it, the last age or world did end and this is a new one lol. I don't know anything about dates though, but I just thought it's quite a coincidence.

Hey EoM, I wrote this as an email to a Witness, but I never sent it because I knew it would destroy our relationship. You might have some use for it:

To put it simply the beginning of the Great Tribulation already came with the advent of the internet. Once the human race became interconnected the perpetuated lies of Satan the Devil began to be exposed in full. That's why it's called a "tribulation" because the forces of evil will scurry about like cockroaches and desperately fight a losing battle for survival into the New World. Many innocent lives will be and already have been affected. The internet is like a bright light that shines on the Old World exposing good and as well as evil (John 3:19). It is a very important part in the separation of the sheep and the goats.

What's happening in the Catholic church is not the start of the Great Tribulation, but rather a product OF the Great Tribulation which has been going on since the mid 1990's. Consider the following verses of Revelation:

Revelation 18 - After this I saw another angel coming down from heaven. He had great authority, and the earth was illuminated by his splendor. 2 With a mighty voice he shouted:
“‘Fallen! Fallen is Babylon the Great!’
She has become a dwelling for demons
and a haunt for every impure spirit,
a haunt for every unclean bird,
a haunt for every unclean and detestable animal.
3 For all the nations have drunk
the maddening wine of her adulteries.
The kings of the earth committed adultery with her,
and the merchants of the earth grew rich from her excessive luxuries.”

^ Notice the end of verse 3 specifically speaking about the "merchants." What happens with organized religion is that they need raw material for the worship of their God. In Jesus' day it was things like candles and incense, today it's a variety of other things but most importantly it's the commodity of paper. The merchants of the world make money off of supply and demand so they really like organized religion because it provides them with a residual customer. The paper companies especially love organized religion.

14 “They will say, ‘The fruit you longed for is gone from you. All your luxury and splendor have vanished, never to be recovered.’ 15 The merchants who sold these things and gained their wealth from her will stand far off, terrified at her torment. They will weep and mourn 16 and cry out:
“‘Woe! Woe to you, great city,
dressed in fine linen, purple and scarlet,
and glittering with gold, precious stones and pearls!
17 In one hour such great wealth has been brought to ruin!’

^ These verses are describing the merchants weeping over the fall of Babylon the Great because they provided them with their wealth and power because of the raw material required to worship (the ANALOG world). When she falls the merchants lose a lot and cry out in despair. See how it says in "one hour such great wealth has been brought to ruin"? That's because the Internet comes LITERALLY out of no where and makes the means of religious distribution obsolete. Instead of passing out paper we now just read the internet. It's that simple. When paper becomes obsolete religion falls and with the fall of religion comes the advent of Christ's Kingdom. It's technology that brings about the GT, not an event, but an INVENTION.

Paper is a huge commodity in the analog world because of modern religion. Every religion uses paper and has for a long time to distribute their messages. So, when the Internet showed up it forced any organization, including non religious ones like the local news papers, that relied on paper to start developing new strategies or forever fall into fiscal oblivion. This ultimatum was predesigned by God in order to set off the New World or the Age of Abundance.

Every religion is downsizing including the Watchtower Society. They have been selling off all their real estate and are moving to upstate New York. This is basically like moving from SoCal to NorCal and the only reason to do such a thing would be for reasons of a fiscal nature. The Watchtower is not immune to the bright light of the Internet and they have been caught demonizing it very much so when it's actually a gift from God. Attached to this email is an image that was in a recent Watchtower warning against "misinformation." It shows an internet cable casting the shadow of a snake representing the Devil. This is disturbing because the internet is from God, not from the Devil and should NEVER be discouraged in any form. Information is what God wants us to have, not lack of information. However, the Watchtower is frightened of it because information at the level of the internet is so powerful. It turns every day people like me into what was considered a learned scholar back in the day. The reason for it's power is because it's from God and will persist into the New World. God is educating his people.

One thing that people are going to realize is that anything that is energy based (digital) is from God/Christ and anything that is analog based is from the world (or the OLD world). It's a dire mistake to lump the internet in with misinformation in general. The internet has everything so it can't misinform you because you can check up on ANY information it gives you, WITH the internet. This is what God wants. I am disappointed in the Watchtower's demonizing of the internet. Only after they realized that they were heading for financial ruin did they finally decide to "give the internet a chance." They have recently announced that they are consolidating their three websites into one. What they are going to put up will be what they should have put up 10 years ago, but didn't. They could have helped a lot of people who were desperately seeking answers, but chose to stubbornly hold onto a method they were comfortable with and had complete control over: paper. Again, this is deeply disturbing and cost them many members who left because the internet was enough whereas the Watchtower wants to control the information. The Watchtower is NOT God, I know you agree with me so they shouldn't feel they have the right to control information in general.

Armageddon IS coming, but it's not going to be like we think. It's going to be more invisible than we thought. For most of human existence we have had the idea that Armageddon is some sort of war on earth between the forces of God and the forces of Evil. This is true, but it won't be really visible to most of humanity and suddenly all people who have been approved by God (the sheep; the meek) will suddenly find themselves on a paradise earth with already established human leaders (144k). There will be a small group that will be fighting the forces of evil however, but most people will not notice the epic battle because simply it doesn't appear like what they are looking for. The JW religion paints it like God's people will be like refugees after Armageddon and need direction. This is not the case, they will hit the ground running, have established leaders, and clean up the mess that Satan the Devil left behind. The Evil Prince who now stands condemned (John 16:11) will finally fall. The internet is the final nail in his coffin.

I think the argument could be just as easily made that the Internet is from the Devil, from a Christian POV. It has had a big hand in the current rise in the rate of atheism.

The internet being what has caused and helped to pass what is about to pass is definitely 100% true. You have no idea how much reading and studying I'm doing, from wake to sleep each day, and this is absolutely nothing to do with the point and the revealing what happens after, this is all just going back, so I have no idea yet about that part, the amazing good news just after sorting things out to show it, is going to show the bible to be the word of God and to contain perfect knowledge, it's going to show brillance in how it was written and made because all of the secrets were hidden from jews, from smart people, and revealed to nobodies like me who dont' understand hebrew or greek, and even w/ some corruptions the spirit of truth was able to set it right and when they see how tons of prophecies and foretold events were in the bible and being fullfilled nonstop and even back to ancient times and nobody had still seen them. I am still backtracking things at the moment to make sure of a few things and when it's released you will understand why. Whether things WILL get very bad or not, I haven't got to that part, but it will definitely heal many people and truly evil people will be rushing to repent, to undo their wrongs and people like the governing body will be weeping and gnashing their teeth, even if nothing is about to happen. This news and understanding is world changing.

well back to the project lol.

" I love that movie. It's full of religious allegory to the point of almost warranting the prophecy tag."

Heh, funny you'd mention that, as the longstanding claim has been that the story was an allegory of the Populist party of Baum's day, even taught as such. HOWEVER, simply because a story lends itself to an allegorical interpretation does NOT mean the author INTENDED it to serve as a particular allegory. Being that you're willing to live your life based on allegories of the Bible, you'd be wise to study the subject of literary criticism, perhaps starting with Baum's "The Wizard of Oz".

Sometimes authors simply enjoy creating a complex puzzle, as an inside joke, a literary prank, pulled off by a trickster (a character common to ancient mythology, as well). Musicians and composers do it all the time, in the language of music and lyrics. There is no deeper meaning to it, other than just as a means to get a laugh or two (Steely Dan are fully in that tradition, enjoying whenever people get hung up on arguing over what their lyrics really mean (and some of their lyrics ARE incredible rewrites of ancient themes, eg 'Home at Last' is based on Homers Oddessy), but sometimes that's the point: the meaning is up to the listener to decide, but it's not authors original intent.

    Here's an interesting start:

KS, I recall an interview with Isaac Asimov where he was relating attending anonymously a lecture about his Foundation series. The lecturer went into great detail about what Asimov meant, what his point was, what things in the book REALLY meant. Asimov mentioned that he was stunned to learn all of that as he hadn't meant any of it. He spoke to the lecturer afterwards and told him this and the lecturers response was that he HAD meant all of it and just didn't know it.

EP, the same thing happens to all authors, all the time: they get readers who dare to tell them what their story actually meant. If it happens even when the author is alive, imagine what happens with a work of fan fiction which was compiled by hundreds of contributors over a thousand years, who died long ago! Overlooking the obvious continuity errors, some will claim the multiple authorship of the bible serving as PROOF it must be divinely inspired (my brother is one of those people). And of course that doesn't begin to cover the interpretation AKA "new light" some will try to sell to others...

In a sense, it's par for the course: JWs argue using a fallacy of "favoring the impossible over the improbable", in defiance of extraordinary claims needing more proof.

For example, since evolution is improbable to occur (which IS true, if you ignored the time frames over which it's operated) then a supernatural being must've created life (which presupposes an all-powerful being without a beginning). In essence, they're upping the ante without any basis, as if throwing up their hands since they cannot figure it out.
