My hubby was appointed at the same time he was active in the so called "apostate" websites. As one fellow poster alluded: so much for the holy spirit's involvement. I have also been acquainted to a number of pioneers that faked their hours. I remember pioneering with an individual who worked the entire month and then reported 130 hours in field circus. What a joke.

Read Barbra Andersons court transcripts of Child molestation. Henderson in California was appointed and RE-appointed an ELDER after confessing in MULTIPLE congregations all over northern California to child molestation and sodomy. He was appointed to Presiding Overseer in Red Bluff California AFTER confessing to child molestation in other California congregations. So much for holy spirit.
I have known lots of double life elders in California over the years...even some C.O.s and Governing Body. Adultry, theft, fraud, adultry, drunks, child molesters, homosexuality, rapists, domestic violence. Not at all uncommon...many cases of double lives going on for 10-20+ years.
Shoots down the holy spirit belief.

As stated earlier I had the exact same experience. I was actively research apostate sites - and was appointed. For me, this was absolute proof that the HS did not have anything to do with the running of the watchtower corporation.

I can go one better! I know one elder who recently started partaking of the emblems. He is harsh, narrow-minded, pious and self-absorbed. He's the type who uses his comments during the Watchtower study to criticize different brothers and sisters without expressly naming them. And this guy is one of the meekest ones on the Earth, chosen by God's spirit to rule over mankind?

MAYBE the REAL Holy Spirit IS appointing the Elders and MS cause the HS wants to see the WTBTS fall and this is the best way.
Nahhh, I forgot I do not believe in the Holy Spirit, so that don't work either.

I think many of the old timers got appointed when the new arrangement came out because of their theocratic histories. Many were odd fellows, strange ducks, and living in a different era.

I knew of a couple that got baptized and then suddenly were df'd because they lied about being married while they were actually living in sin...Too bad. He would have made a wonderful caring elder.
