man i had to explain to you why your claims about atheists not believing in the rapture or miracles if it happened was grade a manure.
that in and of itself makes me "question" your knowledge of the scientific method.
so you keep saying there's no proof blah blah blah, and i keep saying go look up some anthropology. take into account how science has steadily gutted religion over the centuries. keep in mind that you're supposed to OBSERVE phenomenon, hypothesize, COLLECT DATA and present the evidence.
well, archaeologists, anthropologists, chemists, physicists, etc have been publishing data. they're called textbooks. i'm not about to run you through hs and college science and math. you have a computer or a tablet, google this stuff. you're not entitled to forcing someone to explain the minutiae of allthis.
that's me holding up two fingers showing you two.
you choosing to ignore all that is you holding up 5 fingers.
you need to go back and review this stuff for yourself. like i said, you'll either affirm your faith or change your viewpoint. that is up to you.

Wow. Some people really find it hard to admit they were wrong. Must be all that non atheist humility.
And I agree, if fairies/elves are valid as chariklo has pointed out. It is valid to compare beliefs in god, fairies, elves etc, in fact it is valid to compare anything people believe in without evidence.
So next time a non atheist has an issue with their particular belief being compared to fairies. I shall point them towards chariklos thread, post number #2124

Wow, being working hard out for the last 2 days, so here goes
ST Why does it not surprise me that you would be one of the first in with the boot on what I said, you are so combative alot of the time, Lets take out the word children as it seems to have offended you, and let me PLEASE put in - any living,feeling,breathing,thinking thing on this EARTH when we are trying to teach it something, if we have any TRUE regard for them and what we are teaching than do it with patience and kindness, it's that simple, I used the word-children foolishly by the looks of it, but what I meant is- I can't believe I even have to explain, I will try and not be a hypocrite and have some patience explaining......I used the word children because thats when we are generally at our most patient, I teach teenagers to cook for 1 day a week its my 3rd job, I love it, we have a real General there that like's barking out orders and putdowns, and the rest of us try and mix it up with the kids and have fun and speak to them respectfully, guess who's class has full attendance and pass marks. Its a no brainer to me be REASONABLE thats the point I was trying to make and I'm sorry if you don"t think you are scornful in your replies and all the eye rolls and -It must be a full moon and the loonies are out , blah blah blah no it's not all you, in fact I was not addressing just you at all, but it sure is a fair few atheists on the board how can you take offence because someone presume's you lot think belivers are stupid. Far out man at least OWN that, most of you do ridicule, I cannot believe the level of deception some atheists play with themselves. Go back and read some threads please. I have not got the patience of Tec, or the way with words like Aguest, or Sab reasoning skills, I am a work in progress, at least I can admit that, and I am not sure on what role God will play in my life anymore, but seeing howAtheists tear people down as a bunch with glee, well thats brings out my lack of fair play mode big time. No atheist anywhere can 100 % say there is no higher being. Not for sure. XJWS4christ gets bagged alot, if people CAN'T talk REASONABLY about god here, which is sad cos its a x JW site, not Atheists united, than they should be able to go there and talk freely, its amazing the amount of atheist that have shot over there for a nose, when to them its a load of bullshit. So this is my straight up view, as warm and snuggly never seems to appeal to a certain group here, as I SAID I am a work in progress,I will make many mistakes, but as of 6 months ago I want to own every minute of it,I will not hide away through fear of getting trounced, how sad some on this board say " I'm scared/hesitant to post," how sad some on this board DON"T GET IT, that all here should feel free and empowerd enough to share ther views, the reason this type of thread keeps appearing is because its TRUE, and its frustrating, and for those that say whaa whaa harden up, I speak matter of factly about things it's not to garner sympathy, its the way I speak/write thats it,Its me in RL, I see this stuff all over the world in our classrooms, on buses, our politics, workplaces,everywhere, people putting there hand up saying, it was'nt me, I did'nt do it! when all along there is bullying and people turn a blind eye cos its just too uncomfortable to deal with it, or they may not be liked by the cliques that hold power.
And for those that want top say grow up, there are many forms of grown ups, having a reasonable manner is part of being a grown up. Maybe we should ALL grw up.
Y'know one thing in regard to God I do is true, man will f... all this up, we just can't seem to get on a respectful keel as humans, the rich won't help the poor, and I mean born poor like africa, russia etc, people do have less and less natural affection for each other, we are quick to condemn and take offence, myself included,we are suspicious of things that don't immediatly resonate with in us,but the saddest thing for me is we never learn as a world that all we are doing is playing right into what the scripture's say about the time of the end, as much as I find the bible full of contradictions, it is also a book that show another way in the nt, and the biggest message is about love, law of attraction is about love, every good thing is from love, yet we can't seem to consistantly practice it, and I TOTALLY include myself in all of this.
If anyone has been offended reading this well sorry its not my intention.

So it's obvious that you missed my point. I don't think you read these posts closely. I gave an example of what SOME Christians believe may happen. I didn't say that I do. I was using it as an illustration to see if THEY were right, would that be enough proof?
You've consistantly avoided my real question which was, what sort of proof would be enough proof short of God appearing in the sky? I didn't talk about atheists believing in the rapture or miracles. I said IF those things happened, would that be enough proof? According to the Bible even Jesus' miracles were not enough proof for them. Not saying the miracles happened, but it makes sense that no matter how much visible proof you could show, there would still be those that would explain it away and still not believe.
I think I'm done responding to you, rather be in hades. It seems I can't have a rational conversation with you. And in case you view that as an attack on atheism, it's not. I love talking to NC, cofty, Nicolau, and others that have valid arguments and use reasonable logic. You instead use no example but say I am intellectually dishonest and illogical. It's shown again and again in comments like this:

The "blah blah blah" is telling. I said there is no proof of what? No proof of God? Yes, I said there was no scientific proof of God. So then I asked, "What proof would prove to you that a God exists?" You haven't been able to answer. You tell me to go look up some anthropology? Yeah, again a generalization. I've studied anthropology, so please sir, direct me to the right place. I'd be happy to read what you are referring to.
I have a feeling however that you are not referring to anything specific. Just throwing out big boy words. Well done. Yes, that had some scorn on it. But I'm getting frustrated by your generalizations and saying things that lack any substance.

ammo...I will not 'own' your opinion of me. And I do not think non atheists are stupid. As I pointed out. I used to be one. I think the belief is stupid. There is a difference.
And the fact that you use teenagers as an example I think is a good example to use. I have two. I don't think they are stupid either, but they sure do and say some stupid things. But that is the nature of being a teenager. I did some really stupid things when I was a teenager too. That is also the nature of belief without evidence of any sort, it comes accross as...well....stupid.
Some people like to use indepth information about religion, doctrines, theories about their god. But in the end, it is still about worshipping something you have absolutely no evidence for. How anyone decideds to worship one god over another is well.....ususally due to which part of the world you were born in. More often than not, what your parents believe and what era you are born in.
I fail to see how that is not stupid.
Personally I am not that keen on the word and never use it with my children, (even when they do and say stupid stuff), but you're an adult. I'm sure you can handle someone saying your belief does not stack up and maybe its...stupid.
