The WT used to teach that the "governing authorities" of Romans 13 were the early governments (same as Christendom teaches).

Under Rutherford, they changed completely and taught that they were Jehovah and Jesus, which led to great distrust of earthly governments by JWs.

After Rutherford died, they changed back to the Christendom interpretation.

    Does that qualify?

When an article appears in the WT magazine, it becomes 'The Truth'.

It doesn't matter what the Bible says, and it doesn't matter what the previous understanding was.

Where would Ethos go, if he disagreed with the WT?

You guys read these cult books and suddenly think you have perfectly articulated and deduced what JWs would and would not do. I think thats a little presumptuous and arrogant to tell me I dont have a "tipping point". If JWs change so much, why are our core doctrines the same as they were 100 years ago. I have to wonder why people cant help but focus.on seven million little JWs, when Christendom has been teaching traditions and pagan concepts for two thousand years and refuses to stop deceiving the REAL masses. Things that make you go Hmmmm.

"teaching traditions and pagan concepts" LOL coming from an organization who secretly joined the UN for years yet lied and about it's membership when they were exposed!

"presumptuous and arrogant" coming from an organization who sent there own brothers to unspeakable torment in Malawi yet allowed their brothers in Mexico to dodge military service by buying forged exemption certificates!

from an organization that still lets paedophiles and child abusers still serve in positions of authority and who covered over 2 of their own GB members who were free to abuse as predatory homosexuals for decades.

    How ironic.

Oh hey look here. I have a physiology class, a biology class, a political science class, and a chemistry class. Whatever the textbooks say is what we will go by. In two years, the scientists and doctors will change things in the 2nd editions. The same will happen in two more years. Whatever the doctors say we will believe and be taught. When they change their minds on something , so will we. I guess its time for me to ditch this wacko cult called University. I know the truth about the truth and am an expert at identifying cults. I have read many many books. I cant wait to throw my textbooks away!

Ethos; what do you think about filthy paedophiles and baby rapists that still serve in positions of responsibility within the Watch Tower Society?

What makes me go Hmmmmmm is that in that same time frame the Adventist's have grown to over 17 million followers and have also held to the same beliefs. You can never win the numbers game Ethos the JW's are not particually adapt at getting converts. The old knocking on doors doesn't get it done today.

Since I am a non believer debating the right or wrong of 'Generations' and the Trinity is meaningless to me. I left over four decades ago and back then you had to apply other processes to your finding out the truth about the truth. Eric Hoffer who wrote the True Believer was one source that was very helpful. JW's are not mentioned in his book it was about the radical left and right and those who are driven to join and make others join any extremist cause that gives meaning to their existence. Here is one quote to ponder: "An active mass movement rejects the present and centers it's interest on the future. It is from this attitude that it derives it's strength, for it can proceed recklessly with the present- with the health, wealth and lives of it's followers. But it must act as if it has already read the book of the future to the last word. Its doctrine is proclaimed as a key to that book." If there is one thing that we now know it is that the WTBTS has proceeded recklessly with the present. Their continuous interference against a variety of safe and sound medical practices has affected the health of many of it's followers over the course of their exsistence.

By discouraging higher learning that have had a negative affect on the ability of many to provide for their families. By maintaining that they and only they have the truth they have negatively impacted the lives of their followers by discouraging school sports active hobies, travel (non jw related) interaction with their communities even developing relationships with family and friends who are not JW's. It really doesn't matter about their beliefs what mattered to me and many others was how reckless they have been with their followers. When you understand that you will stand at a tipping point.

I think it's quite clear that they knowingly teach the erroneous date of 607 bce as the destruction of Jerusalem... Why else would they misquote experts, and cherry pick quotes and have to perform biblical gymnastics to try and support it.

If it's true you dont have to misquote people into making it "appear" to be true.

I do however agree with James Woods...
