sorry pterist - I ought to have said predicting to pinpoint 1914 by their calculations. And I agree that what Russell and others made of their predictions failed to happen.

Pterist:
The text goes on to speak of what could be called a Sabbath of Sabbaths. The Year of Jubilee is set by counting off "seven Sabbaths of years," or seven times seven years. The fiftieth year, then, is to be the Year of Jubilee (25:8-10).
The above jubilee fits pretty good with 587 BC to 539 BC ish.....
The Jubilee period fits precisely for the period from the destruction of the temple (587BCE) to laying the foundations of the temple (537BCE).
The period of the "seven Sabbaths of years" for which the land rested also fits the period from 587BCE until the Jews returned in 538BCE.

The only significant thing that happened in 1914 was the Singer 66-1 red eye sewing machine and the first world war. Christians who held to a POST-Millinium eschatology review their thinking.

I belive we are on the same page in this respect.

LOL, trying to put things into perspective, with a little touch of facetiousness !
Have a blessed Thanksgiving, if you are not in USA, let's thank Yahweh in Christ for his blessings.

I guess thats why the New light kicks Russel out of his own organisation and corporation as the FDS...however, 1914 / 1919 is still their foundation, when the r&f realize this, the source of the GB's claim to the awesome authority as the ONLY CHANNEL is very questionable.

I amazes me that this issue is still being debated.

I belive we are on the same page in this respect.Yeah I know. It's just that when you said "fits pretty good ... ish", apologists usually infer some 'wiggle room'. So I just wanted it to be clear for our resident apologist that the period is actually much more specific.

Thank you for your sharing your great insights on this subject. I also want to thank Ethos for his great efforts in upholding Russell's chronology from Zedekiah to 1914. However, Zedekiah was NOT recognized as the official kingly line. It is clear from followers of Jesus, namely Matthew that the exile of the kingly line was through Jechoniah Matthew 1:11-13, and Jerubbabel, that did return, after the 70 years of Babylon's domination?
I believe scripture, the sequence of events in Gods word shows the error of Russell and his followers. They seem to over look there were 3 deportations and bench mark 70 years of exile from Jerusalem's destruction, and lost sight of the previous earlier 2 groups that went into exile and more importantly that Zedekiah's group were regarded as "Bad Figs" and would NOT be restored.
Thanks again for you specificity. I learned a lot.
Shalom and happy TG.
