When I called Patterson yesterday.....

I made a three way call, I had a family member on the other line. I had told this person about the WTBS/UN thing to which they stated, "Bullshit." I said, well let's call and ask!

I first called Headquarters, they put me through to Patterson. One wonders if they did it on purpose, as the dude in Patterson told me "Public Affairs handles questions from the general public."

The question I asked them, "Have you been an NGO with the United Nations since 1991 and what is your current status with them?"

The guy said I would have to call Brooklyn. Then he said, "We've been getting a lot of calls. I heard there's something on the internet about it."

To which my (family member unnamed) said, "See! I knew it was that internet thing!"

The dude said, "Why is there someone on the other line?" (His voice rapidly escalated. I ignored that question.

I countered with, "Just because something is on the internet doesn't make it a LIE. Doesn't the organization have information available on the internet?"

To which he replied, "Well I wouldn't care one way or the other if it was true. It's no big deal to me."

!!!!!!

I said, "What do you mean it's no big deal to you? Are you telling me that if you found out the WBTS applied for recognition and cooperation with the UN it would be no big deal to you?"

"NOPE."

My family member then said, "It wouldn't be a big deal to me either. It's Jehovah's organization."

You just can't win.

I was over a sister-in-laws house when the whole issue came up and her response was the same:

It does not matter, this is not a perfect Org. it's run by imperfect men, the important thing is to keep faith in that Jehovah will straighten it all out it the proper time".

I was'nt even about to start. I knew that I would'nt win.

Did you know that, that is almost exactly what the brother who accused me in a mock JC that was held against me said. He was trying not to get involved with what was going on but he was too wrapped up in it already and to show the C.O. that he was on the orgs. part until death he said:

"I will always believe this to be the truth, even if the G.B. was to tell us that they are all lying, I will still believe this to be the truth, I will die for the truth".

I think that mabe you went about it the wrong way.

When I told my gf about it I made shure that she knew the importance of them joining.

I made shure that she knew that they condemned others for doing the same very thing.

Even though I knew that it may not have had much effect on her doubting the truth I knew that I would give me credibility.

The purpose of diveluging such information is to show that the WTBS is capable of being hypocritical and that everything that you say about them is a lie.

Believe it or not I would think that you would have made a better impact if your sister got really upset when you told her about it.

That has probally just been filed away in her little book of "apostate propaganda."

If you had cornered her by showing the significance of them becoming an NGO than that would have upset her and probally cause her to think.

I only have one question for you

How well did you prepare for this incounter.

I know that you called pattersons so that shows some level of preparation but the fact that she dident care alos show lack of such.

Talking to a witness needs preparation, as you would know.

It is to give credibility to your argument that they puropsely hide information from you.

I've found that logic just doesn't enter it for most JW's. What seems to do it is how they are treated by their brothers more than anything. I have reminded a couple of witnesses this, "how can your identify the true religion"? and they always respond with "love". So they know what it's supposed to be like.

It's just they are in a rut and haven't a clue what to do next. No place to go. Don't want to make changes. Don't want to lose contact with family and friends.

The kind of questions you asked before the call and the notes you had at hand that is the sort of thing i would like to know.
