    Yes, it's called bait and switch.

    You are told to avoid black and white thinking, that's the bait.

    Then black and white thinking is promoted, that's the switch.

    Bait and switch is standard fare for the Watchtower.

    Psychologial execution versus literal execution.

    At least nowadays.

    Back in the day, shunning basically was a form of literal execution (albeit a passive one), 'cause when you were ostracized from the support system that kept you alive, your chances of survival pretty much dropped from slim to none.
