OH, Does this ever hit home.. I went with my mom and step dad to the meetings from the time i was 6 till i was 22.. i had a sister that was 11 years younger then me.. i never remember getting smacked myself
but i did remember my sister getting it after we got home.. but one woman i remember very well .. beat her poor daughter at every meeting.. right there in the seats. My mom and i always talked about how that was wrong adn someone should do something about it.. but no one ever did.. and the sad thing was .. she didnt smack ..."beat her" cause she was being loud.. she got it for rolling her eyes and such.. or for talking back to her mom.. this went on from the time she was about 1 till now.. she is about 13. No one can expect a 2-8 year old to sit threw a meeting that is almost abuse in itself.. and unnatural.. at that. i stoped going when my son was 1 i got tired of the looks older moms would give when my son simply jibber jabbered on like babies do.. i was even asked by the PO to take him to the bathroom he was distracting.. and the next meeting told i was spending to much time in the bathroom .. I am glad i dont have to deal with that now!!!

You're not wrong. Individuals don't matter, only classes do. There's so much in common with communism. And the witnesses were so indignant when African dictators (probably educated at Oxford or Harvard) would ban their door-door publishing because they appeared to be communist sympathisers.

Theres many forms of smacking. Theres smacking of the hand, leg, face, head, butt. If a child is acting up or they are trying to test
you to see if you'll do anything. You politely take that child in the restroom, take them in the stall, talk to them and let them know what you want them to do. After talking to them at least 2 times, depending on age, once your tired of talking, you go in the bathroom, in the stall and a good smack on the butt, leg or arm will do the job. I bet you won't have anymore troubles. Some parents don't discipline their kids and that's why theres so much disrespect.

Just a question. Are you talking about smacking a child's face, or spanking them? If you're talking about spanking, well it's best not to use your hands. But if you mean smacking a child's face. I think you need to learn the difference between discipline and child abuse.
And why the heck would you raise a child up in a false religion anyway?

When I said theres many forms of smacking, I was referring to the places on a kids body that can be smacked. Child abuse isn't smacking your kid in the face. I'm not talking about smacking or slaping the kid in the face over and over again, 1 time is enough. If that kid is mouthing off or sucking their teeth and getting smart, they probably will get a smack on the face, its called discipline. I'm not talking about slapping or smacking them so hard in the face that they flew over a table or they flew across the room, a soft smack.The bible talks about church as being a place of false religion, you know "Babylon the Great", I'm sure you've heard that before. Theres many kids who don't know what discipline is and thats why they are out of control. Beating a kid with an extension cord, a stick, a bat, a chain, burning them intentionally, locking them in a animals cage, not feeding them cause they made you mad, cursing them out like they are grown and stole something, beating them to the point where they have bruises on them or until they pass out, touching them in a sexual manner, doing sexual things to them, that's abuse. Your right, theres a difference between discipline and child abuse. If you look at the news at these different churches, the pasters, ministers and rabi's, that's all you do is see that in the news, molesting little boys. You never hear of that coming from a JW, if you do, tell me some facts and what Watchtower or Awake it came from.

I love the way you word your posts - what country, state, do you live?

I did infrequently spank my kids - all 3 of them. My daughter was as tall as me the last time I turned her over my knee when she was 13. That girl could "smack her lips" and "roll her eyes" flashier than any kid I ever saw. We used to call it "sucking your teeth" as in "If you suck your teeth at me one more time - you're gonna be sorry, girl."

Well, she did and she was. I took her into the 2nd school room at the KH, sat down and told her to lay across my lap as I was going to spank her - at which she promptly sucked her teeth. I put her across my lap and would have spanked her then, but she had long legs which she started flailing all around - and clipped me in the head, btw.

Well, not to be outdone by a fiesty 13 year old, I got her legs down and threw my leg over hers so she'd keep still. I had a long straight skirt on with high heels so I was glad that no men were in there. And I paddled her behind with my hand. It absolutely did not make her cry - but she thought twice before acting like a total "pisspants" in public again.

Of course, she continued in private for a good many years. She's getting married in a couple of months at 30 years old (2nd time). She's still a wonderful, beautiful snot. She knows she's my favorite girl, I tell her. "Thanks, mom, I'm your only girl." "Thus, by default, making you my absolute favorite." More eye rolling.

It may not have been the "politically correct" thing to do - before others chime in on how they've never spanked, touched, etc., their children. But life's very seldom totally "politically correct."

In one of the oddest deeds ever recorded, Rutherford, president of the International Bible Students Association and the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society, has placed in trust the magnificent estate for ancient kings and prophets of Israel The slayer of Goliath and his companions may occupy the 10 room modern home with it's landscaped gardens and patio as soon as their credentials are approved by Rutherford and officials of his societies, divinely authorised to recognise them. One morning as I was going from the house to the garage, a queer looking creature approached me, tipped his dirty hat and cried 'Howdy Judge, I'm David' 'Go and tell that to the winds', I told him and he left without arguing the matter. I could see at a glance that he was not David. He didn't look like I knew David would look.' Asked how he expected David and his distinguished brethren to look, Rutherford, without hesitation, opened his huge Bible and pointed to a verse which said that the Princes of the Universe would be risen from the dead 'as perfect men'. 'I interpret that to mean', the tall dignified Judge declared, 'that David, Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jepthae, Joseph and Samuel will be sent here to wrench the world from Satan's grasp, clothed in modern garb as we are, and able, with little effort, to speak our tongue.' Rutherford pictured the arrival of the biblical delegation perhaps in frock coats, high hats, canes and spats. At Beth Sarim (House of Princes) as Rutherford has named his mansion, David will find the most modern appliances that science has devised. When the distinguished guests walk up the circular stairway to the second floor, they will find a large office with red leather chairs and shiny flat topped desk with inverted lighting. Even French telephones await the touch of the princes. Opening a wide door, the native sons of Palestine will behold a large bathroom, resplendent in shiny black tile with needle shower and an amply filled medicine chest. What a thrill giant shouldered Samson, who wrecked a palace with his bare fists might find in the gold safety razor and strop! Rutherford built the second floor bedroom, which he temporarily occupies, large in order to accommodate several of the expected owners. With wide pane windows that look out on the purple Cuyamacas to the East and California's first mission to the north, the bedroom is almost severe in it's furnishings. The rulers of the universe will have simple tastes, the judge apparently believes, although the austere end tables sported gaily covered fiction magazines. Rutherford has imported some Koniach, Wasser from Cologne, Germany to freshen the princely faces after shaving. A black skull cap hangs over one of the bedposts. The coming of David and his companions will be the greatest news story of the ages, Rutherford predicted. 'I am not a publicity seeker,' Rutherford said with a twinkle in his kindly brown eyes, 'but I feel that the world should know about their arrival. It will be a great news story.' Word of his 'House of king David' has reached into every corner of the world, the judge stated. 'Everywhere I went people asked me about this place,' Rutherford said. 'In Chicago a millionaire manufacturer offered to build another house for David, but I declined the offer. 'Literally thousands have driven here to see this place,' Rutherford continued. 'Many have come to the door and my secretary has shown them about the place.' The patio with it's silver pool and olive and palm trees is gay with flowers. Down toward the canyon, paths have been landscaped to allow David and his friends to walk in meditation. Many of the fruits and trees, native to their Palestine, will greet the rulers when they arrive. In the two car garage next door stands a new, yellow 16 cylinder coupe which will be turned over to the rulers along with all the personal property on the place. 'Everything will be theirs, the house, the land, the furnishings and even the clothes if they need them,' Judge Rutherford said. 'What will I do? Oh, don't worry about me. 1938 As far back as 1880 The Watchtower pointed to A.D. 1914 as the date marking the end of the world, at which time great trouble would come upon the nations; but at that time it was not seen by God's people on earth that the trouble would be the battle of Jehovah against Satan's organization. For many years it was believed by them, and so stated in The Watchtower, that "the time of trouble" would be a terrific clash between the various elements of the earth, such as capital and labor. Now tell me, can the Watchtower and Awake or any other JW source really be trusted?

Thanks for the comment. I'm from Buffalo,NY. My 6 year old is the same way. She can roll her eyes, suck her teeth, stomp, slam doors and roll her neck, put her hands on her hips like she's grown. Now both my daughters have their father wrapped around their fingers, when they say jump, he says how high. They talk to him, majority of the time, any way they want to. With me, they know better. I'm a hands on parent, I won't hesitate to pop that butt, leg or arm if I need to. And I'm not the kind of parent who repeats themself more that 2 or 3 times before I come after you. With my 6 year old, I tell her to do something, I tell her to repeat what I told her to do. Once I know she understands, I give her a few minutes. I'll let 5 min. go then repeat again. I'll let another 5 min. go by and then I'm coming.
My kids are trained where mama don't play that. Don't get me wrong, I talk to my kids all the time. And I tell them, I'm not gonna repeat myself over and over again, like as if I'm pushing a rewind button on a tape recorder. They know the look I give them to. No I don't beat them til their black and blue, but I do believe in discipline. I'm showing them that I love them because I'm taking the time to show them what's right,what's wrong and sometimes the bad things you do or the things you don't do have consequences.

To Jason,

No, I'm not saying that if its not in the Watchtower or Awake, that its not true. I was just simply bringing out that you mostly hear of those kind of things being done by people who go to church, money laundering, racketering, you'd think they were office or running for something. And no, its not ignorant, its fact. You can read these type things in the newspaper and other magazines, even ones that aren't religious.
