Yeah, regarding the "nested magazine" crisis Sir82 and wha happened mentioned, there is a letter to be read this week reminding the friends that they need to check and double check thier magazines for doubles as so many congregations had to make emergency re-orders for January magazines.

Now that we're using the back of the Watchtower to start bible studies on the first Saturday instead of the middle, it would be an easy switch to have a "reversible" magazine - instead of a back cover and front cover, an Awake cover and a Watchtower cover. Just flip it depending on if you need a bible based article (Watchtower) or a secular article (Awake).

I hate to give the Society advice, but I have an even better idea which will save the same amount of money (assuming the end product will be a total of 32 no matter what) and be great for the publishers - nest the Awake inside the Watchtower and you have a "set" ready to go!

When you're stuck in a corner, you feel the heat and you remove your clothes.

In recent years the organization has been feeling the heat as never before. The shedding of clothes will continue.

Hopefully, sufficient numbers of the rank and file will soon see the "Emperor" has no more clothes to shed and the spell will be broken.

I've been thinking more and more about the Emperor and his new clothes...How can people ignore what's happening right in front of them? The Truth...well, you can be truly sincere and truly wrong at the same time!

Even if they do consolidate the 2 i cant see them abandoning the trademark Watchtower title. unless of course they want to trick the public into reading them. Watchtower is well known so a new name with the same crap might throw a few off guard long enough to read one.

The 16/32 page thing has to do with printing "signatures", so no, there is no 40 pages - as far as I know.

They're stuck in any case. Making the Awake into a poor quality Readers Digest doesn't accomplish anything. They need fear which translates into doom and gloom - and even that doesn't motivate much these days because if you like that sort of thing, the internet is vastly superior. There's just no competition.

They have nowhere to go but down.

Maybe they could call their new magazine " Watch and Keep Awake" or "Towering above Keeps Us Awake"

Bigmac..so right... I just returned from two weeks cleaning house after MIL in nursing home.

There were boxes, drawers, closets full of magazines, books, etc stashed everywhere. I only kept the firsrt version of the Greek Interlienar book, the rest to the dump where the trash belongs. Just think how all those items were counted as publications distributed worldwide.

oh absolutely they were counted. Just as they are now within the family. It's pathetic, once upon a time, I saw books placed on a regular basis. My last year? I think I may have placed a set of mags or two. So really the publishing company has a captive audience, who believe they need to make donations for the fine materials, So that the work can continue into other countries. Bleh it's just going to the same poeple over and over with few exceptions. You know those polite calls who still allow dubs to knock on their door. Everyone had a call that would go nowhere but they always took mags.
