I dont think that disfellowshipping is such a big deal nowadays. At one time it could cause tremendous distress and isolation, but the net has changed all that. A DF person can easily make contacts with others in the same boat. I`ve always felt that it was a sledge-hammer to crack a walnut, seems to me that the hammer itself is shattering.

    Englishman! Welcome!
I have enjoyed your comments at H2O and look foreward to more of the same here. (I suppose it would only be polite to ask, "You are that Englishman, aren't you?" Polite, but methinks unnecessary.)

Path, others..me thinks you have perhaps missed the point. Your inherent niceness and tolerance for all views has overlooked the double standard at work here.

Do I mind someone sticking up for the WTBTS? absolutely not...I admire genuine belief and integrity, i despise double standards and elder mentality.

But now wait a minute..here we have a d/fed person who has manifestly stated his dedicated mission for reinstatement, and in the process via his words and actions, indicated that those of us who are not taking this course will once again be shunned after his acceptance back.....

For him, his presence here is hypocritical. Once reinstated, the mentality of the process will make for a shunning of all of us, and in the rare occurence that he does CONTINUE to have association with some, will further invalidate and reinforce the hypocrisy of being a member of an organisation he does not really believe in.

you guys think about it....its this double standard and warped thinking that made most of you leave in the first place....and nothing you say will change his mind....

anyways, enough said on the subject, I will just grit my teeth at the invalidation process that will continue...and watch when yet another one returns and becomes "reconciled Df'ed, the apostate slayer"

Just my opinion, but I think that being DF'ed is still a big deal and will continue to remain so. At least it is a "big deal" to all the families that are destroyed by all the lies! I believe that most of the jw's stay off the internet as they are told over and over and over. It will be in their sermons, mags, in their bible studies. The internet could cause serious damage to their numbers. They will fear the internet knowing that Apostates reign there. They are controlled by fear. It's quite effective! (Not to mention the 80% porn sites.)

    Sabrina,

Just drifting slightly, lets say that you are a believer in the Bible. Do you suppose that when Paul said his "quit mixing with bad guys" stuff he was also actually saying "cos if you dont I`m going to send you to Coventry myself"? Surely, Pauls words were well intended enough, but were they not just good general advice, and not meant to be the big deal that witnesses make of them?

    Hi Deacon,
Of course you're right. When DF'd does get reinstated,he will of course shun most of us.
But when he's at the meetings, and the talks and mags.are saying how evil those that left the WBTS are, he's going to realize that the WTS is wrong about that.
And it just might get him and others thinking.

    NEYank,
I see it as you do. I made my thoughts known to DF'ed regarding the hypocrisy of a df'ed person who is seeking reinstatement associating here (under "Making New Friends", I think even before this thread started). If he wants to stay, it's fine with me. There's plenty here to learn. I suspect he might even be able to teach some of us a thing or two.

    hey english,

Welcome to a different scrolling screen. I live in south carolina, usa. DF'ing is still a big deal here, DA'd is almost unheard of - those who leave, try to slip quietly into the night, or at least fight off the elders.

Somehow when you're in the org. you don't realize how much you want to keep your family, even if you don't particularily like them. Guess it's true of humans in all types of situations.

    Deacon,
I have read with great surprise your unrelenting attack on those you perceive to be hyprcrites. What is the matter with you? You are no master over the conscience of anyone, neither have you th eright, moral or otherwise to criticise anyone for posting here. Here are honest people troubling with doubts and trying to find direction in their lives. Here's an avenue for freedom of speech. And it is being embraced. And depite the fact that some on this board have shown standard tolerance, you continue to criticise. See, I am a bonafide JW, and I go out in service and deliver talks and mix with Jw folks. And I do post here. Does not make me a hypocrite? A yes answer from you would show the depth of your thoughts! Are things always black or white for you? Do you understand the circumstances of each one?? Come off your high horse (and it's not that high, y'know) and begin to reason. Stop those unkind words and be human again.
