Ah come on now Misty, come back and answer the points that you yourself brought up. What's the matter? Afraid to admit how weak they are?

Sorry some of us have to work some hours to get the family fed so I could not get back to you sooner.
Ok, how long do you think that piece of paper will be lying around on your living room table. Or how long after your are long dead and burried? Do you think it will still be around in 2000 years? And who is going to bother transcribing it faithfully unless there is some tangible evidence that it needs to be transcribed and passed on? ANd to whose benefit would anyone pass it on?
I understand your skepticism but is there a point at which you start accepting anything as actually God-sent? What sort of proof would you need, short of being hand-delivered by God Himself.
I remember a girl that I used to study with (I will ask her forgiveness for this soon), she used to take this to an extreme, not believing anything that was spoken or written since everything can be questioned, even if we are actually here on this site or just dreaming!
Where do you draw the line?
Where do you draw the line?
Flaming words in the sky that can be seen at all times and be understood by all people of all lands and languages. Ever heard the phrase "Spectacular claims require even more spectacular proof?" If you're trying to say a book (any book) is here because some supreme being made it be here its your duty to supply the proof behind it, not the opposers duty to try to prove its not. Besides, if the message of the bible is oh so important why would this oh so wise god being make it so hard to understand? Dangerous equipment is labeled very clearly "Don't touch here." That's on stuff that could just cause some minor physical harm. They make it nice and clear and easy to understand because its important. If god had an even more important message to get out to all of mankind why wouldn't he do the same thing?
Can you prove that piece of paper on my table isn't written by god? How long its been around isn't important. Using your logic the bible was unimportant when it was written. At what point did it become important? Even more important that all of it though, when are you going to send me all your money like it says on the paper on my table. Its got all the wonderful scientific and prophetic truths that the bible does. You had better send me the money soon or else you'll have to endure everything that my friend dreamed last night after eating some funky mexican food. This paper will be around for thousands of years because it also says its written by god. How can you not believe a paper that says right on it its inspired?
Do a little research. One of the biggest reasons why the bible has been so translated and held in high regard for so long is power. People point to a book and say "Hey, its not me that's keeping you down, god wants me to!" Of course they'd try to keep that book around as much as they possibly could. Why else would you need to keep it going? Its obvious whose benefit it would be to keep it going.

I am really stumped on this one thing, will I go to heaven when I die.
I dont have a clue, I am not sure if it is just plain and simple brainwashing by JW that wont allow me to beleive in going to heaven or what. I would love to go to heaven, it just seems too good to be true, but at the same time , I wonder if when you die ,is that the end? I dont know if I can even beleive enough to stand up for one thing or the other. I am not sure I even beleive that the Bible is inspired or if it is not a fairy tale. Boy, I sound a little bitter dont I? Just an unbeleiver that thought I knew for sure the whole truth and my destination, then the rug was pulled out from under my feet. I would rather be not sure and be a searcher for the rest of my life , even if it means I die not knowing where I will go when I die, than to be a fool. Being a JW is being a fool with your head shoved up your butt. At least I might not be any more knowledgeable than I thought I was , but I like myself better. I know one thing , I have this life , what is left of it and I plan to make the best of this life, there may not be anything after it. I wasted too many years worring about making it thru armeggedon , I wasnt being a better person. I think it is for me, the best way and only way to look at things for now. I will think of heaven tomorrow.
Hi Lyin,
First of all, in case you've not noticed I'm somewhat biased so be forewarned.
You sound like you have one of the healthiest attitudes of everyone here. You don't know and can admit it. Look, people have been trying to figure out what happens after you die since they started to live and no one has been able to offer a conclusive answer. No offense but I doubt you will either. Don't worry about it. Instead of focusing on what may or may not happen after you die worry more about what happens before then. Live a good life. Enjoy it. Treat others well. Do the best you can. That way, you get to enjoy this one and if there actually is a next one (in whatever form) you'll be able to show you lived this one well and were a good person which is all that matters.
Take it easy and I sincerely hope for the best for you in this life and whatever happens when its over.

Q. Who will go to heaven?
A. The ones Jesus takes in.
Q. Can a sinner go to heaven?
A. if Jesus takes him in he can.
Q. can I go to heaven?
A. if Jesus takes me I can.
Q. you mean to say it's all up to Jesus, he is the only judge, the way, the word and no man can say who will go and who will not?
A. Yes I do.
I'm with Willy! but hey, rhett: you sound pretty cool there too? Are you sure you don't believe, cause you sound like you did there for a minute. (And by the way, where did you ever get the idea that He said He created in 6 literal days?) That does not sound like your reasoning?
LyinEyes:
There has got to be a heaven, or else why would Jesus say that he was going up there to where His Father was to prepare a place for his followers? Psalms says that the heavens is where God is. And Jesus said that if you believe in Him you will have eternal life. That is good enough for me (I know, not for Rhett!) That is ok too, since he is being good in this life, that will be enough for him.
oh and Rhett, those flaming words in the sky? What if they do come? And what if it is too late? Your buddies up and left in the Rapture, and you are stuck down here going through the tribulation then the judgment for the deeds you did, rather than the faith you had? Would you not wish you at least gave it an ear?
Re. the Book, I don't think I have to give further proof of inspiration, so many books have been written on this subject by much more clever people than little ole me. Should I forward some titles?
Hehehehe, I'll deal with the flaming words in the sky after the rapture when they come. I'm not scared though, the green flying chipmunks that inhabit my part of the world will protect me from all the meanies when that happens. And what if the chipmunks don't protect you because you didn't send me your money? And what if they make you listen to nonstop polka music? And what if the gargle really loudly? Frankly, I'm more scared of the chipmunks than I am of the rapture. But then again, I know the secret to get them to protect me so I'm soafe!
I couldn't care less about how various people could try to prove the bible is oh so inspired. I want to see the bible stand on its own two feet and prove itself. The fact is there are errors in it. This is supposed to be the perfect book of god. If there are errors in one thing there could very easily be errors in others. Then again, when you state two contradictory things, one'll be right and you can still say you were right even though you were wrong as well.
