ummm IMO ...WWI & WWII do have relevance. But the JW 2520 numerology lore is clearly exposed as false; primarily because Jesus is seated on the throne when he was resurrected in 33 AD. Ac 2:17-34 And secondly, Darius I (Persian, 1 st regnal is 522 BC) is the king ruling when Israel's "desolation and fasts" end in 517 BC. Zec 1:5-7, 7:1-12 -see Jonson's GTR

However, in the 24 th chapter of Matthew you have three markers that lock down Jesus second coming, 1) WWI & WW II ("nation against nation and kingdom against kingdom"), Mt 24:7 2) Noah's "flood came" in 100 years Ge 5:32; 7:6; Mt 24:37-38 , and 3) the "evil slave" appearance. Mt 24:45-51 Behavior of this "evil slave" e.g. drunken obsession with the master's delay, with authority to inflict vigilante pummeling of fellow slaves, and using God's personal name Jehovah in an illegal profane way fits unmistakably the JW GB profile as something "evil", displaying the spirit of Judas. This is replaced by a "faithful" slave.

So, arguably it is plausible that 1914 WW I starts unwind of a 100 year generation. And, medical technology miracle drugs etc., stretches that generation to sync with Noah's 100 year timeline so that approximately 450,000 centenarians will be living in 2014. -see Website: The Centenarian

Looking at the details, World War 1 was really a family squabble- as most of the heads of state and 'royalty' in Europe at that time were related to each other through Queen Victoria- so the U.S. stayed out of the war until 1917. WWI was really a sequel to the 1870 Franco-German war, and those two countries had been preparing their war plans for decades before 1914. There are many details that put WWI into perspective; and it loses its significance as being any different to the wars that came before or after it.

I would say.... 1945 when WWII was over was MORE momentous and the Jews were allowed to go home by proclaimation issued by the United Nations. JW's always say the WWI was the worse war up to that point, but it wasn't. The 100 year war between Britain & France was MORE devasting. Think about it, 100 YEARS of war? or a few years? The Jewish Halocaust, 6,000,000 men, women & children murdered. So I always ask them, "So you tell me, how can 1914 possibly be momentous in history?

Plus, Russell, Rutherfraud and the IBSA were all looking to 1874, not 1914.

JW's have always been looking to time prophesies, The Daniel book, pg 139 pictures the image, near the feet it points to 1763 as to the birth of the ANGLO-AMERICAN WORLD POWER. Now it has been changed to 1914 and cemented in 1945. Russel pointed to 1874 as to Christs return, then they looked to 1924 as to the end of this system, thus the Millions now living will never die. Lets not forget 1975. My point is this, with as many dates as the JW's have looked to and pointed to, I have to ask this question. In the parable of the 2 slaves at Matt 24: 48-51 and Luke 12: 45-48, Which of the two slaves has a preconceived notion of time? Answer the 'evil slave', so what should that tell us? But we all know there is just no reasoning with these people. I know, I was one for over 40 years.

Slimboyfat is right -- the WTS lucked out that 1914 and WWI coincided with one of their predictions.

All the other seven or eight Second Coming and/or Armageddon dates (I've lost count of them all) landed on years in which nothing of global significance happened. Hence all the "invisible fulfillment" prophecies.
