It seems the ones Jesus most spoke against when on earth were the "ruling religious clergy class" (Pharisees).
And the ones he was most compassionate towards seems to be those marginalised by the "ruling religious clergy class" simply because they were not hypocritical or smart enough to hide their dysfunction (sin).
We have a modern example. John Wesley did not want to start a new church. In his lifetime followers had separate bible studies but attended established churches. Only after his death did they separate. The Wesleyan church eventually joined with other denominations to create the current United Church.
Yup, he was an attention seeker of the highest order. Probably existed. Maybe spiritual. Huge ego.
