Only the Kings and P:inces who promise you millions of dollars for wiring them $500 for Nigerian Legal Fees.

"Do Nigerians really have a bad rep?" Hell Yes! Watch "District 9" the movie, Nigerians were trading cat food for weapons of high technology taking advantage of the friendly aliens living in internment camps.

On a sober note, Nigeria is starting to go crazy as Islam is spreading it's tendrils of pain and killing Christians and others who refuse to bow to their god. Christendom's Missionaries work is being lost by the terror of Islamic hate filled men spreading death.

Just like every other country, there are people who are good, and there are people who are bad. I imagine that the majority of those from Nigeria are decent, hardworking people, and only a small percentage are trying to scam people out of their money. I try to give people the benefit of a doubt and consider them good and honest, until such a time comes that they do something to show otherwise.

There is a really nice guy who started posting here about a month ago, and he has posted a little of what Nigeria is really like. Below is the link to one of his threads.

Well, the Nigerians are struggling with Islam's expansion into their country. Buses being blown up by bombs, imagine the church you attending going Kaboom! This all because of intolerant men spreading a gospel of doom, Pray for Nigerians please. We could use some possitive thoughts from the atheist and agnostics of the forum, Niger, Nigeria, Liberia (hell on earth!) are suffering badly.

The countries where the rich and famous of the early 1900s spent Holiday in pure luxury are turned rubble. I wonder if the kids realize how beautiful Liberia, Nigeria and Niger were before the crazy regimes over-through the French and Dutch? Were they better off under the protection of the Colony or not?

I did not know the Dutch and French were the colonial powers ruling Liberia and Nigeria ................. Niger was French, Nigeria was British and Liberia never was anything but what the name says, liberated, it was always free, founded by returning US slaves. The Dutch never had an African colony, they had so in Asia, like Indonesia and in South America like Suriname.

Its called a Nigerian scam, but they may or may not actually be in Nigeria, but will often say they are. 60% originate in the US (go figure). The person claims to have a great deal of money they want to get out of the country and will let the individual keep 30% of the millions of dollars, they just need a bank account number. A variation is the advance fee. The scammer sends a cashiers check which is to be deposted, the mark is supposed to send part of the amount to the scammer. Many preople wait until the check "clears", then think they are safe to send cash to the scammer. The problem is the checks are fake. While the bank may put money into your account, it may actually take weeks or months for the check to bounce, and the bank will want the money back. I dont know how anyone falls for these two scams, but it still works. Do not cash checks for anyone or give your account number to anyone. Cashiers checks are worthless these days.

I was on a few dating web sites a few years ago, and let me tell you, the Nigerian scammers are working that angle too. They call you "angel." puhleeze

I suppose that since alot of scams are coming from Nigeria we could with black and white thinking conclude since most scammer are Nigerian that most Nigerians are scammers.

If we step out of the black and white thinking thang, we see a host of other possiblities.

Old Hippy, the Trekborers who spread out in South Africa were Dutch origin. The Dutch only used it as a port during their spice hunting days. My history is ruff, was Liberia a colony founded by slaves who escaped or were free from the tyrants?
