Constructive feedback for AAWA leadership (IMHO)

toasting of folks who want to do good and made mistakes in the process.
I suspect many if not most would be willing to forgive, if the AAWA acknowledged those mistakes, apologized, and took steps to rectify them.
Instead, the response has been denial, arrogance, and sanctimonious comments about the ignorance of those who point out the mistakes.
Mistakes are inevitable; yet they are forgivable, IF the offending party takes responsibility for their actions toward those harmed.

wha happened?
humility goes a long way.

AAWA.co - The Association of Anti-Watchtower Activists - Exposing the hypocrisy and greed of the Watchtower Society
vs
AAWA.co - The Association of Anti-Watchtower Activists - An international association providing support for those affected by the Watchtower Society.
I think their message risks being a little too 'mixed'. Their name says anti & activism but the tag line is now about support ... I'm not sure those are really compatible.

I think someone (Flipper?) suggested something along these lines:
AAWA can also stand for ASSOCIATION FOR AWARENESS OF WATCHTOWER ABUSE
Not only it changes the tone into something positive (for instead of anti) ; Is clear about the mission of raising public awareness about the activities of the Watchtower; By qualifying said activities as abusive, and having as mission raising awareness about them, it may also offer help for the victims of such said abuse. In this way, the acronymous 'AAWA' wouldn't have to change.
Personally I would add the word "RECOVERY" to it, to underline the mission of HELPING people.
AARWA- Association for Awareness and Recovery from Watchtower Abuse.

I think anything that is accusatory against the WatchTower is always going to have the issue that some of the people it's supposedly intended to help will have mental barriers as soon as they see it so it is partly self-defeating.
Don't forget, those of us who are alteady out tend to see things differently than those who are still in. Making claims that if you don't think 'Anti Watchtower Activists' is a good name means you "love the WTS" just shows a too much WTS-type black-and-white thinking IMO.
It should be about the people, hearts and minds, support and freedom.

IMHO - you can declare yourself as ANTI-Watchtower and it would be good to have an Association who is willing to expose all the harmfull policies of this cult and stands for it also with his name. But such an association CAN NOT be supportive to EX-Jw's or those who are willing to leave or to fade at the same time.
Thats why I'm now, after beeing very enthusiastic at the beginning when AAWA was announced and filling the questionaire to become a volunteer almost immediately, not convinced anymore, that AAWA is a good idea. That has nothing to do with the facebook debacle. AAWAs objective is to join forces and so they have gatherd a lot a of very well known EX-Jws. But all these characters - jwfacts, LAdy Lee, Barabra Anderson, Jo Buel Jensen, RayPublisher, Juan Viejo, Danmera, Cedars etc. had a different approach to the subject. They covered a wide range of different needs that ex-jws or those in who are doubting or want to leave or fade have.
But now they are gathered under the banner of an ANTI-Watchtower Association and the variety has gone. You can't access them without wondering if you have to be anti-watchtower to do so. Thats very sad and harmfull to the matter, which is on hand helping people and on the other exposing the wt.

An extract from a longer post I made elsewhere:
There is no inherently successful way to get group support from a disillusioned body of damaged people. (Especially people whose very damage came from Trust!)
Acting on behalf of people with trust issues is an act of suicide!
It only takes one mis-step for a riot to commence.
We all need to just.....simply.....GET OVER IT and move on.
Make amends. Move forward.
Let's stop gnawing on each others raw nerves and get out the Ace bandages and Bactine spray!
Stifle that throbbing urge to keep stabbing or sulking.
Just GET OVER IT!

I don't know the details and I prefer not knowing them. Living well is the best revenge against the WT. I have such anger that sometimes with friends and strangers the Witnesses will come up and I have to walk away to get my rage under control. Mocking the WT and highlighting a few examples of overreaching and mind control that regular people would view as serious for any religion garner me more Apostate support than my rage.
The sad thing is that the WT reads this forum. This whole incident served notice on the WT that they can defeat us with little funds. We simply turn on each other rather than select key issues with mass support here. Under normal circumstances, they might have to pay some consulting firm a fee to learn how to refute us. One Bethelite online can see all our dirty laundry for free. On the other hand, asking questions of our peers and friends is normal behavior. It is confusing for me.
From JW dub eyes, this incident is proof that we are controlled by Satan or Satan ourselves. Jehoover is protecting them. There is no mess in WTland b/c there is no knowledge or thought. I wonder how many lurkers are here and decided to flee us.

It also risks anyone involved with other support groups as being labelled "anti watchtower"
