Why did you stop believing in God?

I stopped imagining I UNDERSTOOD who or what "god" actually might be.

I went from absolute faith to a no-man's-land of ignorance called agnosticism. i.e. I don't actually "know" anything I'd call real or true about god.

Hope is different from Faith and leads to better mental health.

    Why?

Hope has built in understanding that the best outcome might NOT happen--but, it chooses to remain optimistic.

    What makes Faith different?

Faith is rooting for the best outcome and denying the possiblity of failure!

Who is more likely to experience trauma, depression and cognitive dissonace?

The person who at least acknowledges failure is prepared to move on.

But, the person of Faith cannot and will not!

Hope brushes off errors, defeats and setbacks and tries again with a positive outlook.

Faith digs in and doubles down and goes into stubborn denial.....even to the point of self harm and martyrdom.

I don't think Faith in God is healthy.

I think Hope there is a god of some sort is not harmful.

Evidence and reason should not be the enemy.

I had an AHA! moment after I attended several different churches and realized they're all the same. I realized the idea of a "true" religion was false. No such thing. Then more AHA moments as I read more and more about evolution. The clincher, though, was learning about dark holes in the universe.

Just because I am an atheist doesn't mean I don't have soap in my hole.

Natural evil. God created an earth based on death and killing us randomly. Even I would save good people. And if some power does exist to kill billions even hitler starts to look good. Face it satan has done more to saves life by way of athiest doctors than god has. Maybe he could at least give us a cure for cancer and stop earthquakes

I had Cancer - big time - 7 months of chemo-therapy and radiation,

and my doctor was a believing Synagogue attending Jew.

Helped out by a Hindu, We all believed in God ( the Hindu believed

in a head god and thousand's of lesser gods. ) Me and the Jew are

monotheists, and I also believe Jesus was the Messiah. You should

put the Watchtower down sometime and read what Jesus had to say.

He said stuff like " I am not from this world " and "we are one"

"I am in you and you are in me" nothing you would read in any WT.

Atheists in my opinion secretly believe; if the WT isn't right then God

must be dead, which is like saying, if I can't have it my way ,

I am going home. (The Hindu thinks Jesus may have been Hindu.)

I went for the direct experience approach to god. Didn't have any. I experienced other things, though.

All the socalled evidence of creation doesn't support the god idea, at all.
