Cant leave Your statement says it best. It dosent have to make sense, it isnt really even meant to. They know they can teach whatever they want and faithful JWs will humbly accept it without question. We sit here and analyze all of this but to a JW none of it matters only obedience! Its the B- Behavior Control

    I- Information Control

    T- Thought control

    E- Emotional Control

    method in action.

The statement from one of the GB charlatans "we just love this IDEA" proves it is just that, the Ideas of men, but are accepted by the R+F as from God himself.

They could change the teaching next year and they would accept that! They MUST accept! If you must ACCEPT AND OBEY, what really is the point to them of really analyzing anything, its pointless. All decisions have already been made for them. How wonderful that the burden of THINKING is being done by others! What a relief!

How fortunate for rulers that the people do not think!-

    Adolf A. Hitler

That sums up the WT leadership. I have come to see that human beings on the whole are incredibly gullible and easily fooled, and desperately want to fit in with theif family/associates, and power hungry and evil men know this too and take full advantage.

Also this NU lite will root out many more thinkers/doubters who see the fallacious arguments and cant take it anymore and just leave. THe GB wants this too as they want only the most zombielike loyal drones left over. Ones with 0 thinking ability.

" .....am I now the one saying:

Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation."

Great question. I have asked myself the same thing. JakeM2012 aswered it very well IMO. The parousia is a coming along side of us by Christ, that is what I feel at this stage. The GB say that the FDS cannot possibly be every Christian, because how could every Christian be appointed over Christ's belongings simultaneously? Impossible, they say!!

What did Jesus tell Peter?! Feed my sheep! Paul spoke constatly about Christians having a stewardship. What is impossible is to have a stewardship and not be a steward!! Yet, that is what the GB claim about the GC! Also, what are Christ's belongings?! Buildings? Corporations? Trademarks? Fancy displays at the Bogota book fair?!?!? SHEEP!!!!! SHEEP BELONG TO THE SHEPHERD!!!

Who are the sheep? The meek. Those who are peacable, just read the beatitudes. Anyone can be a sheep. After all it is God's will that all men are saved. If the GB can be domestics and the FDS at the same time, and R&F and partakers can be domestics at the same time, but not the FDS..then why can't all believers in Christ be sheep and faithful stewards simultaneously?

Which belief sounds right to you? We can all be stewards by helping others, and we can be sheep belonging to Christ at the same time.

Instead we are to believe that only 8 men are now the FDS, but not. All Christians are stewards, but not. Christ is mediator for all mankind, but not really. All of Jesus closest disciples were faithful and wise, and fed Christ's sheep, many being martyred, but they were not faithful and discreet slaves. 8 guys who photo-shop themselves in the ministry, and travel in 1st class, and have never been hungry or shipwrecked or persecuted a day in their life, men who's ideas of hardship is missing breakfast are the FDS when magically combined, but not as individuals..

accepting this new scrambling of invisible events is a LIFE & DEATH matter, because

you can not be baptized until you pass all the NEW LIGHT questions. you will not survive armageddon unless you are baptized.

The GB FADS attributes to itself godlike powers.

    Pride before a fall.

Thanks to all for your comments, and thanks to Ann OMally for showing that indeed a bit of Greek scholarship agrees with the WT on the hypothetical nature of this statement about the Evil Slave.

I did not disagree with the WT on this, its just that it makes the previous statements about the FDS hypothetical as well, which makes the whole thing sound what it is, a PARABLE, and not a prophecy.

True. All the way through they call it an 'illustration.' It's an illustration of how believers (especially teachers) should act while the Master's away and how they should be found when he comes back - reward for faithfulness in carrying out their given duties; punishment for unfaithfulness. To attach a 20th century (onward) prophetic fulfillment to every component of the illustration contorts it beyond recognition.

And I don't get why, if they go to the trouble of putting in endnotes this time, they cannot be bothered providing a proper reference to 'one scholar's quote so that the reader knows who said it and where if they are inclined to look it up. It drives me nuts that they don't properly credit their quotes.

I second that! Drives me nuts as well.

The OP wondered how this is going down at the KH. Well we had our CO visit recently and he plugged this WT in all of the three meetings during the course of his visit. "Packed from cover to cover with new understandings" "read it, study it, then read it again and study it again" "make a table to compare the previous understandings with the new understandings" (have to say those last two statements struck me as ironic), then the usual "thrilling" "you will be overjoyed" etc etc etc (lots of eager nodding from some of the uber dubs in the audience who had obviously read it already)

They use rubbish like this to confuse the flock. That creates the illusion that one is dependent on the religion to understand anything. The average person will not realize that the 8 members are the "slave"--or whatever number happen to be in the Gibbering Buddy at the time. So, they can tamper with the definition the way they did with "a generation" a few years ago. Keep changing things like that, and the Filthful and Disgraceful Slavebugger looks like the only hope for anyone to be able to actually understand anything. Then change it again, and confuse people some more so they can't reverse engineer it and see the whole thing is rubbish.

Very good point Freedom4all, I hadn't thought of that. And welcome to the forum.

AS to why they don't tell where they got their quote from, I discivered that by looking up a few in full, from the Trinity Brochure on through the Origins Brochure and elsewhere in the WT etc they "quote mine" , just giving the bit that appears to support their point of view, whereas in reality just a paragraph away more often than not , or just the whole paragraph, they are shown to be WRONG.

There are some good threads on here on this subject of Quote Mining, very revealing.

They cannot make it easy for the Sheeples to see this outright deception.

    My thoughts..

They put the cart before the horse.

Ideally, putting the horse before the cart would mean that Jesus would have explained how things were to function in the last days.

But he didn't. Instead a printing company was started. It had followers. It grew into a religion with the printing company's board of directors being the leaders of it. They found that scripture of the Wise and faithful servant, retranslated it to Faithful and Discreet Slave and used it as a basis for authority to run the religion.

Also, the Catholics base their religion around one scripture. Matt 16 and upon this Rock I build my church applying it to Peter. Peter's successors are the popes.

the GB build their religion upon Matt 24:45-47 and the FDS.

The Catholics emotionally and unreasonably accept what the pope says. The JWs do the same with the FDS teachings.
