    Welcome!

How my wife and I were treated trying to understand how her molester could become an MS again... well that's what got the snowball moving for us. It was so painful...yet the idea of being in that organization for years longer if it hadn't happened makes me cringe.

    Welcome S/s

You have obviously both spent some time together discussing and analyzing your concerns and doubts about the organization. It`s great that you both have the same mind.Sadly a lot on this board dont have that .

Their is so much information / encouragement / facts / and above all discussion , the freedom to express an opinion without being judged as an apostate or whatever is an emancipating feeling .

Welcome to you both to the free world

==How many here were Elders, Servants, or pioneers at one time?

many. you want numbers of all together or separately? what's a matter by the way?

could we have more detailed info about you and your situation; family status, etc.?

    Hi and welcome.

Well done for having the courage to stand up and leave.

it is all confusing at first, and painful. Take a break from it all, and go back to basics. It does get better.

goodsoul, he was asking a rhetorical question - not fishing for personal information :-)

You said you stepped down because you couldn't teach something that was false.

Was there a particular teaching that pushed you to step down?

    Welcome.

    Welcome to JWN.

It really is a rollercoaster isn't it? I was an elder too. I got DFd after mentioning very tactfully to our inlaws that we had doubts.

If you really want to fade rather than get DFd don't mention anyhting to anybody.

    BibleStudent said -

" You can plant seeds of doubts, by saying something as simple as "Can you help me to understand the New Light?" and then ask simple questions to help a JW to realize what is wrong with the "New Light".

This WILL get you DFd. If you want to be allowed to fade say nothing to anybody.

It's great to hear you and your wife both want to leave. I know its difficult when you have lots of friends and extended family but the sooner you begin to build a new life the better.

    Best wishes

    Bill

    A hearty warm welcome Skinnedsheep!

Many have observed that simple questions work best.

Others rightly observe even this can cause trouble with those whose ignorance is militant, and whose self-righteousness is malignant.

I have experienced an elder (Pharisee) running away from me when I asked the simple question: "what is the gospel in one word?"

On my journey out it seemed that our family unit was the priority. That is where our focus remained for at least 4 to 5 years. Now we are on the same page and more able to make ourselves available to others that want and need support on their journey.

(Why does the "true religion" secretly blind its followers to the "Good News" according to Paul, Moses, Isaiah and Psalms?)

    Welcome Skined Sheep!

Was an elder, too. Although I consider myself almost entirely mentally "out", I still show up every now and then just to keep things quiet. Fortunately, my wife is very open minded, and while not quite at the stage of admitting this whole thing is nonsense and leaving, there is very little doctrine that she believes in. All of her family is in and we don't want to lose them if at all possible.

I would agree the organization is imploding, but it is going to be painfully slow.
