The Elders want to meet with me ... (Judicial Meeting)

  The Elders want to meet with me. At least that's what they keep telling me, and they've been saying it for more than a month and a half now. Just so you're clear: This IS a Judicial Committee.

  They've set and rescheduled several meetings over the last few weeks. Every time they reschedule one it's for a different "reason." This has been going on for 6 or 7 weeks.

  It's really very unsettling and quite confusing, to say the least. I'm getting extremely frustrated by all of this!

  I feel like they're just screwing with me.

  Why do you think they'd do this?

  Oh, by the way. This is in response to my most recent request for reinstatement.

  I don't think they'd procrastinate like this if it was a Judicial Hearing where I was suspected of wrongdoing. THAT meeting was held less than 48 hours after the initial call. They had no problem clearing their calendar for that meetng and keeping the appointment then!

  What does this tell you about this religion?

  They are not so quick to reinstate,as to DF. Everyone has to wait who is this state. Time is on their side. If reinstatement is what you want, you will have to play this game.

  Sounds like they are testing your humility, your contrition, and your being cut to the heart over your sin. If you become indignant with their delays, then it will prove otherwise....to them anyway. On the other hand, maybe they are busy with Convention season and a bunch of defecting elders?

  For clarification: I was disfellowshipped many years ago, have attended meetings faithfully for more than a year and have written several letters over the last few months requesting reinstatement. This is NOT my first such request, nor is it our first such meeting. In every case the elders have acted as I have described above in reference to my requests for reinstatement.

  Again, what does this say about this religion?

  Bob_NC, thank you for your response. The convention is not for a while yet. There have been no recent defections, at least not that I have been able to observe.

  cantleave, please re-read the OP. I am DF'd; I am seeking reinstatement.

  Keep sending those letters and keep your cool. Keep your eye on your goal.

  I certainly hope that once they reinstate you that you then switch congregations and then stop attending all toghether.

  There's really nothing you can do - as cantleave says, they can hold a JC and DF you without you being there.

  They did that with me except neglected to invite me to it and then claimed my "refusal to meet with them" meant I had disassociated myself.

  I appealed and after a 3 hour meeting with the original 3 clowns plus 3 others from another cong, surprise surprise - they upheld the origincal decision that I was refusing to talk to them (!)

  They are a law to themselves ... the best you can do is not accept their self-proclaimed authority or anything they come out with.

  Edited to add:

  Sorry, I misread - I didn't realize it was to reinstate you. Really? You want back in?!!? It may be a test to see how 'humble' you are and that you respect their authority. Give a janitor a shiny suit and he thinks he has some power and deserves respect ...
