a watcher: I don't read all the literature, only what interests me. I comprehend most of it, but some goes over my head and I let it go.

I cooperate with the GB enough to remain an active publisher in good standing, but I don't do much more than that.

I'm just trying to get people to examine their REAL reasons for stumbling out of the JW's.

Maybe with the passage of time, they'll realize that serving Jehovah really is the best way of life.

Okay. A watcher says being a JW is "the best way of life", but a watcher does the barest minimum of activity possible to be "in good standing", and doesn't value the literature enough to bother reading most of it. A watcher doesn't even have easy access to a 2010 Watchtower. Too far back in the archives, apparently.

Why would anyone here consider your views seriously when you don't even take them seriously, a watcher?

Oh, and I really love your earlier comment: "we don't emphasize Jesus because he is only one part of God's wonderful purpose for mankind.

Right now the emphasis is on the Kingdom that is about to be established, with Christ as King"

Wow. I wonder what one has to do to gain importance in JW Land? The king is only the king.

    Hypocrite.

Why should anyone here explain to you why we "stumbled" out of the JWs when you can't even explain why you are one? A lazy one at that!

Shirley, I can't prove that JW's have the Truth

    You said it, not me.

You can't make a vow to something that doesn't exist. Whatever "vow" I made, was made under duress (i.e., I would be destroyed at Armageddon™ in the future and would be ostracised in the present if I didn't), and furthermore, was led to that decision by fraudulent information by well-intentioned, though equally misinformed, individuals.

No judge would require an individual to continue with a vow made under those conditions. Marriages have been annuled for less.

Awatcher said "We can't send JW's into hardline Islamic countries. They would be slaughtered. Is that what you want?"

I feel the LF should be the tip of the spear . The apostles never shrunk back out of fear . This thing was never about living in a luxury condo in brooklyn waiting out the end . If they would just take some risks then the numbers would dwindle until there are no more then the end will come .

Heaven and jookbeard, the Bible plainly states that most people will refuse to serve Jehovah.

a watcher, most people have never heard of Jehovah.

lost, the elders here seem to have no respect for Jehovah's earthly organization. How can they be qualified?

Qualities of a fine shepherd: 1 Tim 3, Titus 1 (loyal).

Fine qualities of a Christian: fruitage of the spirit (Gal 5:22,23)

Why am I here?: many reasons, one of which is to strengthen and better understand my faith by looking up scriptures to answer your questions.

    Vidqun,

Yes, I believe in conscience and I follow mine, although I'm still training it.

I don't have any special insight into Luke 17:1-4, although I do thank you for bringing those scriptures to my attention. I have need of verses 3 and 4.

a watcher - you ignored my questions...

Early christians also believed that Jesus' parousia was imminent but their message was uncompromising.

" When I came to you, I did not come with eloquence or human wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God. For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. " 1Cor 2:2

Jesus told to his followers to be witnesses if him to the most distant part of the earth. Who gave you authorirty to change the message?

But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God’s curse. As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let them be under God’s curse - Gal 1:8,9

I couldn't put it any better than that. Well said.

    cofty,

"Who gave you authority to change the message?"

I don't know. That's between Jehovah and the GB. The GB decided long ago to emphasize the Kingdom:

    The Watchtower...Announcing Jehovah's Kingdom.

    I just go with it.
