I didn't allow men to come between me and Jehovah. My conscience wouldn't allow me to preach the message of Jehovah's Witnesses. If it was the same as the Paul's I would.
What about your vow to Jehovah?

A watcher, I can see where you are coming from. Two questions I have for you. Do you believe in “conscience”? Do you follow yours?
Seeing that you have communicated with some of the “little ones” on JWN, I would love to hear what your take is on the following passage:
Then he said to his disciples, It is unavoidable that causes for stumbling should come. Nevertheless, woe to the one through whom they come!
2 It would be of more advantage to him if a millstone were suspended from his neck and he were thrown into the sea than for him to stumble one of these little ones.
3 Pay attention to yourselves. If your brother commits a sin give him a rebuke, and if he repents forgive him.
4 Even if he sins seven times a day against you and he comes back to you seven times, saying, I repent, you must forgive him.
(Luk 17:1-4 NWT)

cofty, we don't emphasize Jesus because he is only one part of God's wonderful purpose for mankind.
Early christians also believed that Jesus' parousia was imminent but their message was uncompromising.
" When I came to you, I did not come with eloquence or human wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God. For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. " 1Cor 2:2
Jesus told to his followers to be witnesses if him to the most distant part of the earth. Who gave you authorirty to change the message?
But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God’s curse. As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let them be under God’s curse - Gal 1:8,9
Amen... where are you, road to Demascus? - QC

cofty great posts
AWATCHER - you have totally ignored and failed to respond to my posts.
Are you here trying to 'convert' the 'converted' who have been 'converted' many times ?
jw's are jehovists, their father is not God, do your research.

Watcher: I'm just trying to get people to examine their REAL reasons for stumbling out of the JW's.
Maybe with the passage of time, they'll realize that serving Jehovah really is the best way of life.
Watcher, I'm just tuning in on this thread. I haven't read all nine pages of it so if this has been discussed, I apologize.
Your above statement sounds like in order for us to honor our vow to God we must reconsider our decision to leave the WT org. By you own description of your casual approach to the organization; "don't read all the literature", "not to earn brownie points in [an] earthly organization"... you sound like you understand that the organization itself is not part of your vow.
I'm a little confused where you stand.

JW's and early Christians lets take a quick comparison;
JW''s;
meet 3 times a week in Kingdom Halls
meet 2/3 times a year at large conventions
are expected to meet on door knocking work distributing books and magazines
must conduct a family study to remain in good standing
voluntarily offer time to work on construction of KH's
have a Hospital Liaison Committee to enforce the ban of blood transfusions and carry out bedside disfellowshippings if blood has been administered
elders meet in secret to punish alleged wrong doing or to punish and remove members who vocally disagree with WT teachings
plus members are expected to reach out for positions of authority within the framework of the organization these positions include;
auxiliary pioneer
regular pioneer
ministerial servant
elder
RBC member
HLC member
Bethelite
Special Pioneer
Gilead Missionary
Circuit Overseer
District Overseer
Branch Committee Member
Zone Overseer
Governing Body Member
you must be right Watcher JW's are almost identical to early Christians!

Awatcher said "
Heaven and jookbeard, the Bible plainly states that most people will refuse to serve Jehovah.
"Go in through the narrow gate; because broad and spacious is the road leading off into destruction, and many are the ones going in through it; whereas narrow is the gate and cramped the road leading off into life, and few are the ones finding it." (Matt 7:13,14)"
Excuse my french but in my humble opinion there is quite significant difference between refusing to serve or few are the ones finding it.
Question is ofcourse why on earth is it so difficult to find the narrow gate.

Awatcher said "We can't send JW's into hardline Islamic countries. They would be slaughtered. Is that what you want?"
For some unknown reason early christians were brave enough to go to whichever false gods serving country even with their lives in stake. If I recall it still right it was said the good news was preached everywhere. What makes this continuum of gods people (WTS) so much weaker and more afraid to do good work than their predecessors from 2000 years back.

Yeah, I was stumbled and left. I was stumbled by the absurd teachings and failed prophecies of the WT. I consider myself an atheist (technically agnostic but that's a different discussion). I don't believe in any god so of what value is a fow to a god I don't believe in? It holds the same weight as a vow to Vishnu.
