What about your vow to Jehovah?

I was close to doing the dunk but because of the hypocrisy and absolute idiocy of the congregation here , I back out every time and it's been several tries but this time the change in dogma is very serious as to the generation , their involvement with the UN and the gag order never to discuss it ,say it is the truth so why not? If you're not willing to carry around a blood card and sign it in front of the elders they mark you as bad association . How insane is that? That's some freedom in Christ there .... I know they do stalk members or prospective members and then rat out their activities to the elders and God forbid you should share some paranormal experiences , jeeze the only thing they deem worthy of discussing is how well they do at the doors talking to householders .

I don't expect you will credit this, watcher, but I brought before the local brothers a question that pertained to the very truth and character of god and an egregious misinterpretation of Jehovah's words at Genesis 22 in our literature.

Now, I had already "met" God before I met the JWs. A fact that strengthened me to stick up for Him when shame and ridicule were implied in the eventual reply from Bethel. The Corporation's response agreed that my understanding of the text was correct. That truly all the references were abolutely in line with their own. But nevertheless,no, I was not to give the Bible's word precedence over their interpretation in their literature. I was never to even talk about the matter with the brothers and sisters.

As a matter of conscience before the wonderful and kind God to whom I had vowed obedience years before I ever heard of Jehovah's Witnesses I had to choose between God and men.

It was wrenching because after 22 years of incrementally surrendering my relationship to others who claimed to be brothers of Christ, the adopted sons of God--and not me--I recognised that the FDS don't even allow the non-Bethel anointed to follow the Lamb. So I had to trust God would understand why I would trust his mercy if I followed his son and not these men who told me NOT to bear witness to His Goodness.

I had some great times while I was a JW. I used to have great friends there too. I was shocked that nobody in the end trusted God as much as they feared disfellowshipping.

You are the only JW that talks to me. So what about that?

Rattigan, Jehovah has kept every promise He ever made to mankind, and He will do so forever. God cannot lie. (Titus 1:2)

Maybe you can pray for more friends to spend time with you in your congregation. I'm kinda feeling sad for you here.

Can AWatcher count these conversations for time? Like... how many credit hours would s/he get to claim? Are we virtual "be back" studies or would we be virtual householders?

...wait... what's the term? be back... come back... return back.... crap. I've forgotten.

A Watcher doesn't understand this simple point, which is what "humbled" described so clearly:

In The Myth of Certainty: The Reflective Christian & the Risk of Commitment (InteVarsity Press, 1986, 1992) pp.29-30 Professor Daniel Taylor warns:

"The primary goal of all institutions and subcultures is self-preservation. Preserving the faith is central to God's plan for human history; preserving particular religious institutions is not. Do not expect those who run the institutions to be sensitive to the difference. God needs no particular person, church, denomination, creed or organization to accomplish his purpose."

problemaddict, I believe I must COOPERATE with, not serve, the GB. This is the arrangement Jehovah has put in place to accomplish His will at this time.

"Be obedient to those who are taking the lead among you and be submissive..." (Heb 13:17)

What about your vow to Jehovah?

My vows are between me and those I make them to, and are not subject to policing by anyone. You are not entitled to an explanation.

Please present proof that god chose the WT/GB as his "arrangement", other than the WT telling you god chose them.
