Holy smokes! Thinking of all you in the flood area.
No doubt dubs will spin the flood as Satan trying to prevent the DC.

Didn't one of the conventions in Calgary have a bomb scare, a few years back, that disrupted the program for a few hours?

Hello Simon:
Continue to stay safe you and your family. Do you think you might lose the internet. Well I guess if we don't hear from you then I
guess it's down. Just stay safe.
Also reporting from Calgary. Still have potable water, still have power. The mayor is a wonder. Here's my favorite shot so far.
How much you want to bet the Edmonton convention next weekend will report record numbers?
There's talk down here of rebooking the Calgary convention but I just don't see how they can swing it.
How about they combine the DC with the stampede? We could use Chuck Waggons as Chariots and they could be the Christians ;)
Simon and all our JWN friends and others in Alberta, Canmore, and Calgary- please stay safe, be smart, and seek shelter of higher ground ! We will be keeping you in our thoughts and try to send out positive vibes into the universe. Hang in there, Peace out, Mr. Flipper
Some of hubby's relatives have been evacuated. The town of High River is evacuated. Canmore is where you see the spectacular footage of houses washed away. Even though this looks more peaceful, keep in mind this is downtown Calgary. Parkades flooded. Office workers told to go home. Over a hundred thousand people displaced.
The mayor is internet savvy. Heck, he's savvy period. You can follow him on twitter, @nenshi. The mayor has been going strong for over thirty hours now.
The premier and the prime minister are in town now, conducting their helicopter tour. I'm not as impressed with their performance.
Here is a nighttime short clip of the swollen river w the city on the other side. A cool shoot.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GooE01U8QRk
The flood is extending it seems. Calgary has been hit hard - water everywhere. Down-town core closed and underwater. Bridges gone or at risk. We got more food and water this morning so don't have any immediate concerns.
There will likely be severe disruption for days if not weeks before things are back to normal.
Still raining and more heavy rain forecast + more floods upstream (Banff) + melting snowpack so still more water to come down to us and of course people downstream from Calgary will be flooding too (e.g. Medicine Hat)
