But I like leaving the paperwork hanging better. The more time the elders waste filing paperwork, the less time they have to bother active congregation members.

"Sign right here and press hard, 3 copies"
They'll also be charging you an $8.95 fee to have it notorized as well.
You have to pay to get it notorised? What a mad country you live in.
CAA,
What is interesting to me, is that the actions of your father, somehow make it seem as though since you didn't sign a paper, that the congregation is still stained with your defiance!
Basically, Jehovah is holden to the policies and procedures of this little group on earth, and you leaving without signing this paper means.....well......you haven't really left?
It is funny, and also very very sad. I think you have the right idea. Just don't play their game. In fact, playing dumb might be even better.
Didn't sign what?
Congregation is not clean?
Huh?
Agreed. Let em stew. It's not your problem anymore.
What a bunch of wnkers.
Be careful, CAA - your father sounds apoplectic! He might be the first one queuing up with a stone in hand, just as soon as the "ok" is given. It would be his duty to "clean" the congregation, at the expense of parental ties.
What is this thing with letters of resignation? I never wrote a letter nor has anyone else to join? Petty legalistic minds.
You sign nothing to join, which I suppose is part of the sham. My mother told me when I was studying, "Don't sign anything! Have they asked you for any money? Don't give them anything, don't sign anything." If they had have asked me for those things upfront, I may not have kept going. They pile on the legalism once you've joined. I don't know this for sure, but they must have some sort of form the elders fill out for when someone gets baptised ie name, date etc. I know they do for disfellowshipping, courtesy of JWfacts' putting his online.
