I am sure that if evangelical christianity had power it would not be long before a blasphemy law was on the books again.

If you don't like abortions, don't have one. Same goes for gay marriages. It really isn't complicated

What would a Evangelical country look like- Take a look at Texas, they just passed a voter ID measure to thwart women's vote in the current Statewide vote. Why are these mostly Evangelical male politicians so afraid of the power of women.

Ozzy Osbourne tells it exactly like it is with tv evangelist Jimmy Swaggert:

What Would a Country Run by Evangelical?
History already answered that question about 400 years ago.

I would say I am on the same page as backseatdevil here....
I remember learning about the Spanish Inquistion, actually to be honest I learnt from the Monty Pythons anyone remember that series?
But what I learnt, although much of it probably satirical, was when the Vatican had all authority people who did not agree were put to death at the hands of religious judges in kangaroo courts......similar in WT cases.
I think Evangelical Christians would be just as bad as the Taliban, and the Vatican. MG-your picture paints a thousand words, I agree it would look like that.
IMO I dont think right wing and left wing politics are so far apart when you go to the extremes. I think they go in a full circle and end with an Autocrat at the top playing God. Look at China, North Korea, and Zimbabwe. Military run states, with Autocrats ruling and opressing the masses. Then you have the Taliban, and to some extent Israel. They mix religion and military, both against each other in the middle east pushing their faith on the country members.
I do have to say though in Israel there is provision for one to recuse oneself from national service, ironically on religious grounds. That's probably to do with the fact that Israel in one of the US states imo, and a lot who do national service are Jewish American 18yr olds....which I am against. Far too young, they should be getting an education or working an a Kibbutz.
So that my rant for today....LOL!

Here's another thought, Taliban and Hitler excepting. Historically when ideologues get in to power they have to moderate their stance. The rhetoric may be the same but they will have the same problems as other states. Potholes need be filled, children schooled, businesses prospered, and neighbours to be appeased.
The Ayotollah even moderated his stance once he got real power.
