  Julia, no matter how many times the fire alarm goes off, the firemen must respond -not because it is their duty but becuase you never know if it is a real fire until you get there.   You are right prologos, 2034 stretches the meaning of geneartion to the limit. No matter how you cut it, 2034 is the end of the line. 2014 is an intersting year too. I have my attention on 2014. I am expecting something remarkable should happen in 2014 (probably wrong but just hoping). But everyone will no matter what will wait until 2034. Have to see this hand through.

  Clarity, It is hard to swallow but thats what they give us. In the artcle you will notice that the geration prphecy is the third line of evidence. They show other events in support that we are living in the last days.

  There is no such thing as an overlapping generation in the bible. The generations in bible are very very specific: 40 years (Moses and Jesus) or 70, 80 (Psalm).

  It's beyond my logical understanding how someone can swallow such nonsense and fight to death for it... pure madness.

  Lots of scriptures in the old and new testament defining what a scriptural generation is. The Society has chosen to completely ignore those and no longer lets God's word interpret itself on this, choosing vague and dubious secular and ad hoc definitions and fallacious 'special pleading'.

  Speaking about the rebellious attitude of the nation of Israel who had came out of Egypt under Moses it says at Numbers 14:29: ‘All your registered ones, from 20 years old upward who complained (vs30) will not enter into the promised land (vs33). They will become shepherds in the wilderness forty years to answer for your acts’. Then at Numbers 32:13 it says ‘God made them wonder in the desert for forty years until all that generation that offended God came to their end.’ So, all that generation with a minimum age limit of 20 years came to its end from God’s stand point 40 years later. Jehovah held responsible for their actions all registered males of 20 years and above (Num 14:29). God referred to the full time limit of one generation as being 40 years (Num 32:13). Interestingly, God told Moses that the price of a vow made by a male person in the 40 prime years of their life, between the age of 20 to 60 was 50 shekels, the highest price (Lev 27:2-3, Deu 1:35, 39, 2:14-16, 32:5).

  Moving to the Christian Greek Scriptures, Matthew chapter one lists 42 (14 + 14 + 14) generations from Abraham to Jesus (some debate over this – anywhere between 41-46 generations). “So all the generations from Abraham to David [are] fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon [are] fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ [are] fourteen generations.”- Matthew 1:17

  Here are some of your examples of the Bible's definition of a Generation:

  35 years: (Job 42:16, 17) "And Job continued living after this a hundred and forty years and came to see his sons and his grandsons—four generations.

  37 years: Jerusalem was destroyed about 37 years later when Jesus said "this generation will by no means pass away"

  38 years: Deut 2:14 - And the days that we walked from Ka′desh-bar′ne·a until we crossed the torrent valley of Ze′red were thirty-eight years, until all the generation of the men of war had come to their end.

  (Mt 1:17) "All the generations, then, from Abraham until David were fourteen generations, and from David until the deportation to Babylon fourteen generations, and from the deportation to Babylon until the Christ fourteen generations":

  John, by definition, every generation consists of people of different ages. They are all part of the same generation and the lives of the younger ones overlap with the lives of the older ones from the time of birth of the younger one until the time death of the older one, during that period their lives overlap during the generation.

  \For example; jesus generation consisted of interlappers too. You could say that the Shepherds that saw the angels, Jesus mother and Father, the old woman that jesus healed and the children that came to him. All of their lives interlapped during Jesus life. When Jesus spoke the prophecy this generation will not pass away to his apsostles (lets say you wnat to aply it the that generation back then), to waht group did he refer to not passiing away? The apostle John did not pass away until he saw all of the promises of God come true. But waht did Jeus mean by generation back then>?

  Whatever he meant, people ages from 0 to 100+, their lives interlaped. Must one apply 70 80 120 or 40 as a pattern to define the span of the 1914 generation?

  Now the obvious question is, to what generation was Jesus referring and what does this have to do with Revelation chapter 6? Well, like Revelation, the generation that Jesus was referring to also consists of two groups of people whose lives would overlap. Group 1 of this generation discerned the sign of Christ's presence in 1914. But they weren't merely born in 1914 nor merely alive to witness the start of Christ's presence. They were spirit-anointed in or before 1914. Therefore, the generation Jesus referred to saw the start of the last days. The second group are those that will see the end of this system of things. As the first group grew older, the second group started to be born so that for a while the two groups overlapped one another - they were contemporaries of one another.

  We might think of it this way. While we were in school, we were contemporaries with children of other ages who were also going through school. Even though our ages differed, we were collectively known as 'school age children.' We were all part of the same generation of students. Obviously the older ones finished their course, even while the younger ones were just starting out.

  One Dictionary definition I just looked at said "The length of time between the birth of the parents and their offspring".

  The question is, what would Jesus' listeners have understood by his words ? Nothing like the WT's crazy definition that's for sure.

  1914 has no significance apart from the momentous events that took place that year, but certainly plays no part in Bible Prophecy.

  Even if you wish to stretch the definition of "Generation" to something those ordinary folks who listned to Jesus would think was a sick joke, i.e 99.9% of you lot will be dead before my words come true, it matters not.

  We are not living in the "Time of the End", we are living at the start of the most exciting time in Human history.

  Great Post. If your quotation is accurate, then the second group DID NOT SEE THE SIGN in 1914. That answers my question.
