  In terms of the Olivet (discourse) having a FULfillment (in the absolute definition of the word), the wts teaches that it does. One argument in support that wts uses that is convincing, is that, although the GT in 70 CE was the greatest in the history of Jerusalem, "it is not a greater tribulation than the global Flood in Noah’s day", so 70, is not the only way of applying the prophetic part of the Olivet discourse.

  In plain English, the wts teaches, that 70 AD did not fulfill the GT part of the prophecy, because it was not the tribulation described: "great tribulation such as has not occurred since the world’s beginning until now, no, nor will occur again. "

  Check my post here for comments from the NICNT-Matthew commentary and Josephus in connection with the wording of Mt 24:21 (specifically about 2/3s of the way into the comment). Not to argue the point, as each has a right to his/her own view. But just to show how some can view the wording of 24:21 as hyperbole without needing to find a yet future fulfillment.

  I personally believe Mt 24:4-35 has a 1st century only fulfillment, yet, it does follow a pattern similar to past actions by God, a pattern which, to some extent, also occurs in Revelation. It is (to me) this similar pattern which prompts some to view Mt 24:4-35 as having a dual fulfillment. (Compare 2 Pet 2:6 - also cmp this verse in the NWT.)

  Additionally, some feel that vv. 29-31 had no fulfillment in the 1st century, thus leading to the thought that it must be fulfilled at some later time. But see here and here.

So disasters at Jerusalem rank with the rest of them. The generation of 1914 is still going strong because it is overlapping, first generation ever to do so. great WT invention with the rest of their doctrines.

  So we can now conclude that the 20th. century (signs of the times) was not the GT as spoken about in the bible

  and perhaps too the unscriptural and unsupported dating calculation by the WTS. was wrong on many levels.

  The other bible scholars separate from the WTS. were right about 1914, bringing focus and realization

  of what the WTS. was up to all those years, an indulgent commercialized fraud perpetrated more so as a supporting

  marketing strategy for the WTS's published goods.

  What will most likely happen over a couple more decades is that 1914 will be dropped all together and the WTS. will

  announce that they are just imperfect men who got overwhelmed with their own expectations.

  70 is a historical event commemorated in Rome with the arch of Titus. If you are saying that the prophecy is not true because you believe that the flood was not true, and because you believe that 70 CE is not a prophetic event, you can believe that. Our discussion is not about challenging the elements of the prophecy, it is only about interpreting their significance and their prophetic significance.
